This is troubling regardless of the events but the fact the flight originated in Paris makes is extremely troubling if it indeed turns out to be a terrorist act. A security breakdown or a very well planned and executed act.

What I would say out of experience is this sudden disappearance of the flight means the plane either exploded in the air, or plunged into the sea. No matter what the cause is, there was no indication. It happened all of a sudden.

CNN reporting that the debris previously found is not from the plane and the Search-and-Rescue operation is ongoing.

Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed on Friday that the Egyptian military had found human remains believed to belong to people on board Flight 804, which crashed in the Mediterranean on its way from Paris.

"The Egyptian navy was able to retrieve more debris from the plane, some of the passengers' belongings, human remains and plane seats. The search is ongoing," the ministry said in a statement.

Pinpointing a security breakdown will be interesting and potentially fairly difficult based on the aircraft's flight plan. It flew from Eritrea to Cairo and then on to Tunisia and Paris. Some of the experts that I heard yesterday were saying that a sophisticated explosive device could have been placed on the plane at any time and gone unnoticed.

It's being reported that ACARS sniffed smoke moments before the plane went down, of course it doesn't necessarily mean a bomb but if it was just a fire in the cargo hull or a electrical fire one would think there would have been a mayday call and not so much of a violent descent.

TNT traces found in EgyptAir MS804 debris – report

French investigators reportedly found traces of TNT in debris from the EgyptAir Airbus A320 that crashed over the Mediterranean in May. Though the origin of the traces is unclear, it adds to speculation that the crash was an inside job.
Investigators from France’s Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN) discovered traces of the explosive last week when visiting Cairo, Le Figaro reported on Friday.

Egyptian authorities reportedly did not allow French investigators to examine the debris more thoroughly, and the origin of the TNT traces still remains unclear, a source close to the investigation told the newspaper.

To confirm the finding, the Egyptians want to draft a joint report with the French, but France’s investigators are unwilling to do so unless adequate access to the debris is granted, Le Figaro’s report said.
