I doubt it. We'd have just seen a reversal of roles. Those saying that Trudeau did the right thing to speed along the vote would be up in arms, and those who are completely abhorred by the incident would have found a way to justify it. I think it's pretty clear that there's both no excuse for his behaviour, and that the NDP and Ambrose completely embarrassed themselves by the ways in which they responded to the incident. I think the only one who came out looking reasonable in all of this was Elizabeth May.

Dude, you cannot say things like this. What are you trying to do, end the universe? Why not just divide by zero while you're at it?

In seriousness, in spite of the obnoxious background music, she really did sum it all up quite nicely here:
http://globalnews.ca/video/2711093/e...be-more-mature

For people who were wondering what Gord Brown (the Conservative whip) thought about the whole thing, as people were posting earlier, here you go:
Quote:
"I was trying to start the vote, the prime minister grabbed my arm. I immediately told the prime minister to let go of me — now," Brown said in a statement released later. "Immediately afterward, the prime minister went back down the aisle of the House to confront other members of opposition parties."

"I later told the prime minister he should NOT have gotten out of his seat," Brown added.

I'm having trouble figuring out who handled this worse - Trudeau with the temper tantrum, or the opposition parties who pissed away a chance at instant public goodwill by blowing wildly put of proportion an incident that we could all watch for ourselves on video?

It's just how I would expect a group of kindergarten students to act at recess.

So typical of any house of commons or legislature session.
It's crazy that these people are supposed to be professionals and run a country but they act like children every single day during question period.

I'd be all for passing legislation using trial by combat instead of this "voting" nonsense. Battle it out on the floor and prove your budget is pleasing to the eye of Odin All-Father.

Although it may affect the willingness of women to stand for election, and end up with Slava and Resolute actually agreeing on a political point: "Big = Good!"

But on this point, I don't agree. Four of the top five most read stories on Liberal Party mouthpiece CBC this morning were about this incident, and two of them were opinion pieces critical of Trudeau.
Ha, c'mon Res, ease up a little, man.

That's their job. They don't give a flying f*** about the country. Just gaining power and making the other parties look bad. That's it. That is all they care about.

Running the country should be a collaborative effort. Instead it's a stupid pissing match where everyone loses.

Am I the only one who thought of the scene in This is 40 when seeing this supposed vicious elbow?

Ahhh. Sunny ways indeed.

Hopefully after his apology the house can move on, learn from it and actually get to work.

The reaction to this 'vicious elbow' was pathetic and childish. The whole thing is childish. Mulcair is a tough guy now? Can we see a boxing match between him and Trudeau? THAT would be the best thing to come out of this.

This is just stupid. An incidental contact occurs and the NDP MPs force a debate over whether it was a "physical molestation". Good fricking grief what a bunch of children.

I fully expect that Mulclair and the entire NDP caucus to show up like this at the next press conference

Spoiler!

Being a staunch Conservative I will say way to go Justin.

The totally irrelevant Mulcair/NDP that will never govern ever being silly as usual blocking business, Trudeau with the BC premier waiting and other things to do having had enough of the BS taking matters into his own hands. I have some respect for our sunny ways PM.

The NDP member who was "bumped", and was so upset she had to leave the House and missed the vote. Give me a break. Typical, when you can't get a job doing anything else you run as an MP for the NDP. What a baby.

Liberals withdraw motion 6 following yesterday's brouhaha. If nothing else, that should help ratchet down tensions a little.

Oh, and I don't know why it bothers me so much that Slava pretends to be non-partisan, but it really does bother me.
