To me it looked like the NDP were actively blocking the Whip from passing and Trudeau got fed up. The one guy shuffled back and forth to block passage. Brosseau was part of it too and she got contacted by Trudeau when he turned to lead the whip out. She of course grossly over reacted much like a hockey player getting a little clip with a high stick. The NDP were being childish. I'm on Trudeau's side with this one.
I am far from a Treudeau supporter but this is much ado about nothing. Although he probably shouldn't have gone over to begin with the contact was so far from physical abuse it's laughable. That elbow...lol. An average trip to Walmart would result in more contact than that.
Any time i watch video of our elected officials while in office I am usually embarrassed. Most of them think that they are trying out for some soap opera, and almost always go over the top one way or the other when trying to express themselves. It's like a bunch of 8 year olds pleading their case, where they are over dramatic and continue to get louder and louder in hope that their opinion be heard.
Modern politics is not modern at all. The system by which we are governed and they way things are run is way over due for a revamp. With modern technology we are all constantly connected and could come up with a vast number of ways to improve the system as a result.
Watching that two minute clip, might seem to some as an unusual exchange of opinions, where in reality most sessions are a big waste of perfectly good oxygen.

It doesn't matter if Trudeau is fed up or not. He has no right or authority to intervene there. He doesn't command the House. The Speaker does. The only thing the NDP were ever going to accomplish with their theatrics would have been to delay the vote by a few minutes. Instead, Trudeau chose to act childishly and turn a minor protest into an international embarrassment.
No, it isn't. The effing Prime Minister of Canada completely and inexcusably overstepped his bounds yesterday at a time when he is also seriously and inexcusably trying to stifle the rights of the Opposition to do its job. And you are such an extreme liberal hack, Slava, that you refuse to see that Trudeau's behaviour this week has been every bit as bad as the worst behaviour you saw out of Harper or the Conservatives. Yet, because you are such a colossal hypocrite, your only thought process is to try and deflect rather than face the fact that your side is no better than the one you hate.
Haha, this is great post. Made me laugh for sure. Should Trudeau have intervened in anyway? Obviously not. Did he actually assault this woman? Obviously not.
It has no bearing as to which party I support either. Its just politicians who could be working and doing their jobs getting distracted by semantics and grandstanding.

All this did was make Trudeau look like a even bigger hypocrite, he hasn't done a good job of living up to his whole sunny days, transparency promises that he made during the election and shortly after.
The bottom line to me is the whole thing looked idiotic and childish, and the fact of the matter is if he would have done this in any other job (laying hands on people and bullying) he would have been shown the door.
All it proves is that the easy ride for Justin is pretty much over, he's come across as a complete a$$ twice now in the House of Commons and his apology came across as cringe worth with the basically bully stance of "I'm not sorry for what I did, I'm sorry that your feelings were hurt"

How sincere of an apology could you give if someone skipped a vote after they were overwhelmed because you bumped into them though? When I watched that video I had to look carefully to even see that he made contact with her. I suppose technically it was his elbow, so he "elbowed" her, but I'm not sure that's an accurate description of what took place.

The apology Trudeau made in the House is pretty much what you would expect from an apology made in the House. It's all meant to be specifically phrased in a certain way (i.e.: referring to the aggrieved party as "the member" rather than by name), so I personally don't have an issue with how Trudeau handled that aspect.
That said, lets not pretend that this incident is only his elbowing of Brosseau. His entire behavour was out of line. So much so that the Speaker probably should have ejected him from the House yesterday and only allowed him back in today to apologize. Mulcair is dialing the hyperbole up to 11 on this one, but he is not wrong at all in stating that you never saw this kind of entitled behaviour from previous PMs.

Basically your making lots of assumptions here Slava, you don't know her or how it effected her. Neither do I, but either she's a brilliant strategist who saw an opportunity to overturn a vote on cutting a debate short within two seconds of getting hit by leaving, or she was genuinely upset and had to go compose herself.
There's no justification for Trudeau acting like a Petulant 5 year old in the middle of the horrible "mine" phase of life, and we all know that one. Laying hands on anyone in the work place isn't cool of the sign of strong leadership, its the sign of a person with zero composure and consideration.
His apology was hollow to me, he was a bully, he got caught for all to see and didn't apologize for his actions, it was more a long the lines of "I'm sorry that your feelings got hurt by my awesomeness"

Basically thing, the speaker should have sent the whole session to their rooms without dessert and not let them back in until they were all ready to apologize.
Except that they have internet in their rooms so what's the point.

You guys are hilarious. Have you watched the video with sound or seen this? Basically nothing happens. Its the ultimate tempest in a teapot (as someone else already posted).
Instead, Trudeau chose to act childishly and turn a minor protest into an international embarrassment.
International embarrassment. If it's turned into that, that's the freaking media and the rest of the House.
If she couldn't vote because of that "incident", I hope she books a whole week off work for her first mammogram. She's going to need the "recovery" time.
