Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was accused of "manhandling" Opposition Whip Gord Brown and elbowing NDP MP Ruth Ellen Brosseau in the House of Commons as MPs gathered for a vote on the government's assisted-dying bill Wednesday afternoon.
In video from the House, Trudeau is seen walking toward Brown in a crowd of MPs in the Commons' aisle, taking his arm in an apparent effort to move Brown towards his seat.
MPs were just about to vote on time allocation for bill C-14, the government's physician-assisted dying legislation.
The prime minister later said he felt Brown was talking too slowly ahead of the vote.

Haha, love the fact you have to add some partisan hackery in your post. Adds nothing whatsoever, it doesn't even make sense. Are you suggesting this is being swept under the rug or something?
Just a silly addition to the article.

He made you feel unsafe? I watched the video. It looks like a teacher escorting an unruly child to his desk. Obviously he shouldn't be doing this, but come on, lets not over react. The angriest, scariest person in that video is by far, Mulcair.

But your bias aside.
If this were Harper, folks would be calling for his resignation.

He would have denied it profusely and then refused to answer questions about it?
I expect better out of the Prime Minister, but what a bunch of children.

Her NDP MP colleague, Nikki Ashton, said she was deeply troubled by Trudeau's actions.
"I am ashamed to be a witness to the person who holds the highest position in our country do such an act. I want to say that for all of us who witnessed this, this was deeply traumatic, what I will say, if we apply a gendered lens, it is very important that young women in this space feel safe to come here and work here," she said.

Jesus, you'd think he'd taken some MMA-style shots at her after reading that as opposed to what happened in the video, where you can see his elbow quite clearly accidentally bumped her while he was trying to grab Brown.

And you don't think you'll see this from frothing at the mouth Conservatives over the next few days?

What double standard are you talking about? Did you read the article, as others pointed out, the CBC published this:
Quote:
I want to say that for all of us who witnessed this, this was deeply traumatic, what I will say, if we apply a gendered lens, it is very important that young women in this space feel safe to come here and work here," she said.
"He made us feel unsafe and we're deeply troubled by the conduct of the prime minister of this country."
|
and this
Quote:
There is not a parallel in contemporary Canadian history. We hear about members becoming physical in other countries but that is not Canada," Julian said as MPs raised points of privilege after the vote.
Conservative MP Peter Van Loan said it was an "extraordinary example of physical intimidation."
"I witnessed as [Trudeau] strode across the floor with an anger fierce, in his face and eyes, towards a group of individuals. What took place was the prime minister physically grabbing people, elbowing people, hauling them down the way," he said.

Very odd occurrence....not sure what Trudeau thought he was doing there as I'm pretty sure it isn't in his job description to walk other MP's to their seats.
That being said it's being completely overblown as far ias the "intimidation" thing goes until the back seats started emptying...which honestly looked kind of cool. Sort of like someone got plunked in a baseball game and the dug outs emptied.
Where is Rougned Odor when you need him? (Though Mulcair looked like he was getting to that point....haha)

Oh my word! We must immediately provision the house of commons with fainting couches!
That was clearly Justin Trudeau acting like an #######, but have some sense of proportion. Christ.

Yup....common sense which is in severe shortage in the House of Commons (irony).
I think the only explanation needed here is what Trudeau thought he was doing and where he thought it was within his mandate to walk an opposition MP to his chair against (what appeared to be) his wishes.
Beyond that? Meh.
