Default Marijuana habits and legalization

Spawned from the Trudeau thread, I'm curious what people's habits would be if/when marijuan is legalized vs. what they are now.

I'm not a frequent user but if it was more accessible like alcohol I would probably use it more but not to the point of it being daily or anything and more of a weekend drink and toke.

I may try some stuff just to see if I could get a strain that wouldn't make me all paranoid but the lack of ambition, messing up my sleep and memory loss would prevent any real long term increase.

Paranoia comes with infrequent usage. If you say started using it on weekends for example the paranoia would go by the wayside.

I've mentioned here before that I was a heavy user up until about 10 years ago. Only have it about 5 or 6 times a year now; I don't see that increasing either way with legalization.

Never done it. Well, once in amsterdam for laughs.

If it's around at parties like with alcohol, I would absolutely indulge.

Not my thing. Although I have a number of friends who still use it (I live in Vancouver), so it's never difficult to acquire and always around. Legalization would make it slightly easier to acquire, but I still probably wouldn't have much interest.

I'm old enough that I don't need drugs to help me lay around and do nothing. I can do that on my own.

My consumption would likely increase but only once workplace screening has been updated.

That's more likely to turn into a night of binge watching Netlix with each other while eating a combination of cookies, cereal, and potato chips than an actual party lol.

Tried it a couple of times, once in my teens, and once before I went to a U2 Concert, didn't really enjoy it all that much, and it certainly didn't mellow me out.

I wonder if the paranoia people get is more aligned with the fact that it's illegal (and a perceived stigma against it), and you are now participating in something illegal, than an actual psychological effect of the drug.

"Oh they can tell!"
"Oh man, there's cops there, can they smell it? Are we going to be arrested?"

I don't honestly know. Because if it was a chemical reaction causing paranoia, wouldn't it do that for everyone? But if this is the case, maybe it wouldn't be such a prevalent symptom if it was legal.

I think its a lot like any chemical including alcohol, they affect different people differently.

On alcohol some people get drowsy while others get amped, some mellow out and some get uncontrollably aggressive.

Yeah that's true. People always tell me about how "this alcohol make them angry" or "crazy" or "sleepy' etc..

I've never really felt differences in alcohol. But I don't really drink very much, or very hard when I do.

I wouldn't partake any more than now, but I'd get some of those sweet sweet marijuana-laced gummi bears rubecube told me about. Smoking is just so last millennium.

When I was in college, I dabbled. We definitely weren't worried about law enforcement at UVic. It was social situation and speaking with people that caused me paranoia.

But yes, after habitual use (once a day for a week in a row+), that went away. I think marijuana is just really strong these days. So without a tolerance, which builds very quickly, it will cause a lot of unwanted side effects in most people.
