The logos on hockey jerseys are large, front and centre. So who knows how it will look.

Soccer Jersey's are also a different beast in the sense that their is way less commercials during a soccer game, as their is very little down time in the sport. For the majority of a soccer game, most of the ads you see is a tiny strip at the top of the screen and the odd close up of the players.
Advertising in hockey is already significantly more intrusive than in soccer, with branded jerseys, there'd be virtually no point in a hockey game where you wouldn't be directly look at an advertisement.

Don't soccer teams just completely change certain uniforms (even colour scheme) almost every single year as well.

Pretty much. The primary jersey is always the team's colors (ie: Barcelona's primary shirt is always red and blue, white for Madrid, red for Man U, black and white for Juventus, etc.). The away and third jerseys can be any color, though some teams opt for one of a few traditional colors (ie: Juventus tends to alternate between blue (city colors) and pink (original team color) for their second/away jersey)
Typically teams change jersey designs every year, though some teams only change some of their jerseys each year (ie: home kits change on even years, away and third kits on odd years).

True, and they also have to adhere to local restrictions, Liverpool were sponsored by Carlsberg for quite a while and had to play matches in France with no sponsored jerseys because France doesnt allow marketing for alcohol.
Ditto with Real Madrid, they're sponsored by BET365 and have to occasionally play games with no sponsors logo in countries that dont allow the marketing for gambling.

Wonder what the criteria are for these ads. Would you ever see a youporn.com ad in the future for one of the teams?

Is there a more ridiculously confusing, yet ridiculously popular sport than soccer?

Most important for this story is that he Sixers will sell fan jerseys with the ads because they say fans will want what the players wear. It sounds like non ad jerseys will also be available.

Cricket is confusing to understand, no doubt but once you get it its simple.
Also there are 3 different formats of the game; 5 Day Test cricket (8 hours a day, they do take the night off lol), ODI (usually 8 hour match), T20 (3 hour match).
T20 is very popular amongst the younger crowd. Traditionalists don't want to see 5 Day Test disappear, it does have its place, it's like chess match.

What he said. I used to find it confusing and silly but now that I'm into it it's like my favourite sport after hockey.

What will be interesting will be the conflict of interest issues that arise with players that have signed exclusive contracts with Nike, Under Armour or such and then having to wear an Adidas crested jersey.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Doubt it would matter. Players endorse other equipment and would still be wearing that equipment. Sam Bennett has an Under Armour deal but wears Easton equipment and a Reebok jersey.
