Default public skating rinks

can any of you guys tell me some decent public skating rinks where i could try to learn how to skate a bit better? prefereably in the south eastish, and that don't get too busy. i need to improve my skating for rec hockey and the only rinks i can think of are southland leisure centre and family leisure centre. thanks

I know its not in the SE but the oval has a free skate every Monday night 630 til 8.No sticks though.

Its the polar opposite of the SE, but in the NW there are quite a few. I like to go to the one behind Westhills, its by that elementary school.

They have a zamboni and everything.

However, its outside.. so you may need to wait a bit

There's one down in Shawnessy. SW I guess, but close enough.
I think it's called Shawnee Sportsplex or something. Connected to O'Byrne HS.

The Indus arena has free public skating on Friday nights. I believe its from 6-7:30. You may want to call ahead and confirm the time though.

If you are in the Southeast of Calgary it is a pretty quick drive.

You mean the South Fish Creek Recreation Centre? That complex is connected with the BOB HS.

You might want to make sure you have your own water if you there. I remember my hockey team being stuck with no water because it wasn't safe to drink.

The water there is disgusting in that arena. Essentially tastes like blood.

All the city rinks have public skating as well, just have to call them and find out the exact times.
