Just heard Duhatschek on 960 offer a scenario where PK Subban is traded to Edmonton for 4th OA ++ so Montreal could draft Dubois.

I said it earlier but I would love for the Oilers to do 4th + Klefbom + ??? for Subban.
Great player but his $9M cap hit would be really painful once they need raises for McDavid and Draisaitl.

Sorry if this was brought up earlier...
Brett Cyrgalis of the NY Post: Jaroslav Halak might not be with the Islanders next season. Thomas Greiss took over the starting job and the Islanders are very high on J-F Berube. Halak has two years left on his contract with a $4.5 million cap hit and could be a trade chip for the Islanders. The Islanders are not planning on having a three-goalie system next season.
Would Halak be a decent stop-gap to get the Flames through these next couple years until Gillies is ready?

I'd prefer Fleury to Halak, to be honest.

Sure, but I still think they can do better.

To Montreal: 4th OA + Yakupov + Klefbom
To Edmonton: 9th OA + Subban
Montreal picks Dubois. Edmonton drafts the best D available at 9 or flips it again in another deal.

I think Edmonton would have to give more for a Norris Trophy winning defenseman, no?
Dubois (unknown nhl talent) plus Klefbom (what does he have, like 70 games played?) doesn't seem like enough to me if I'm Montreal

Marc Bergevin could just as well go back to throwing pucks in his own net if he made that trade.

I'm not saying it's a great trade. Outside of maybe getting Hall, trading Subban at all would not be a popular one in Montreal. I'm just spit balling possibilities based on what Duhatschek mentioned.

Subban's value would be much higher than 5 spots in the draft, Klefbom, and a busted Yakupov.
If anything, take out Montreal's first and even then I don't think Montreal does it.

Yeah no way the 9th overall goes back the other way - Unless you are including Taylor Hall or RNH in addition to the 4th overall.

There's no way Edmonton is getting the 9th OA back if they're getting Subban and not giving up a good roster player.
It would be more like this:
To Montreal: 4th OA + Yakupov + Klefbom
To Edmonton: Subban
OR
To Montreal: 4th OA + Hall + Klefbom
To Edmonton: 9th OA + Subban

If Subban is traded, I think 4OA and one of the 6x6 boys would come back, even just on a salary basis. Hall is probably too much but RNH or Eberle could make sense (I think Klefbom is still in there.)

Not sure if this being discussed elsewhere - please advise if so, but with all the talk of trying to pry Nichushkin out of Dallas - I was less then impressed with his play.
Outside of being big and filling a positional need, I didn't think he brought much to the game, and certainly didn't use his size at all.
Dimitri Jaskin however - have we talked much about him? How do folks think he'd fit and what would it take to get him out of St. Louis?
Thanks CP

You are probably right. Hall in place of Yakupov makes more sense for Montreal, if they were to include their 9th OA pick.
This is exactly why I don't offer up trade proposals that often.
To be fair, there was no way Calgary would get Hamilton for picks. Trades are weird.

I know Dubois is a good prospect but I don't know if he's "can't miss" like the top 3 guys as that's a big gamble. One of Nurse, Sekera, or Klefbom would have to go the other way as moving Subban would leave a big hole in their defense group.

Yep I'm not impressed. He has that same self-entitled, underachieving stink as Yakupov IMO. Druin complained about his use but at least he backed it up with stellar play when given the opportunity. These guys always underwhelm.

Would we trade down to the 10th pick (Colorado) and get Picard? Maybe include Ortio for their 3rd as well?
We could probably still pick Keller or Jost at 10.
