I expect this will be the Flames' motif operandus for any big organizational changes or big-name trades from here on out.

We didn't know about Treliving until the announcement was made - other names like Mike Futa and Jim Benning (thank god he went and screwed VAN over instead) were in the mix at the time, while Treliving wasn't really talked about that much.

We didn't know about Dougie until about a half hour before the trade call was made official.

And we probably won't know a thing about the new coach until sureLoss breaks the news.

I generally think Button is a bit of a doofus, but he was quite good in that interview. In particular with the defensemen, he noted that while the top 3 aren't necessarily automatic Norris candidates, they could be really valuable 2-3 guys. The types that cup winners grow from within.
I think teams understand and value that, and we'll see one or two go in the top 6.

Edit: Sorry, slight derail, I thought it was the draft thread!

I think Darryl would be a good fit. As a head coach he has always been successful with a variety of different teams.

Could be the guy that pushes this team to the next level.

Personally I just want him to come so he can develop a mean streak in Monahan similar to how he did with Regehr.

That's the moronic Sportsnet website for you. Random videos on auto play at the top of every news article. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs to be fired. Terrible web development.

I've fired them off an angry email about it.

The FAN mentioned Rick Bowness this morning ad maybe someone who may be in the mix that the Flames would obviously be waiting on Tampa's playoffs to conclude...

It's all good. Obviously an article worth posting, but you should really spoiler that. Like is required for spider pictures.

Yeo getting some attention

From yesterday:
Michael Russo ‏@Russostrib 20h20 hours ago
#ducks have permission to speak with former #mnwild coach Mike Yeo, sources say

From today:
Michael Russo ‏@Russostrib 2m2 minutes ago
Canada has the day off in Russia, so I'd suspect Mike Yeo sits down with #flames GM Brad Treliving. CGY has asked #mnwild for permission

Please, Anaheim, hire him.

Meh, Mike Yeo isn't a bad coach. I wouldn't curse the gods were he to be hired hear (I just wouldn't throw a parade either).

I would hate the hire but would try to be open minded. I think I would rather have Carlyle though as he's at least won a cup and had some real success as an NHL head coach. Yeo seems to be only as good as his goaltender is at stealing games.

I agree with a poster earlier in that I really don't see how Yeo keeps getting interviews. The guy was terrible in Minny, and was only saved last year because Dubnyk went into god mode for the last 3rd of the season. This year, he sucks again, and Minny finally cuts the guy. Why would another team want him?

Carlyle gets a bad rap. What i saw was a flawed roster that was a playoff team for most of his tenure with the leafs. As soon as he was taken out of the equation, they went from holding a playoff spot to a bottom 5 team in the league.

Should he be the flames coach, i don't know, but he seems like a better option than others.

I find it bizarre that they would talk to Yeo but have (allegedly) zero interest in Boudreau.
