Cuba is great...and Varadero has the best beach Ive ever seen.
If you are going with just your wife go to Sandals Royal Hicacos...it is fantastic and was just voted the best resort in Cuba.
Sandals.... scroll down article for Cuba review
Resort reviews
If taking kids there are many great family resorts on the Varadero peninnsula
My Pics
Dont worry about Hurricanes...they are out of your control.

If you want something different try the Royal Decameron in Panama...its cheap and truly a fantastic adventure. They never get Hurricanes

Lastly check Debbies for reviews...the best site for warm waters.

Both of those resorts you mentioned are great resorts. I have sent clients to both and they have come back with glowing reviews.
Also remember that Hurricane Insurance is now available through most tour companies.

if you want to go somewhere where there is no risk of Hurricanes, you might want to check out Aruba. 200 miles outside the Hurricane zone.
Totally safe at all levels and its a beautiful place to go.

Thanks guys. I never really thought about Panama or Aruba. I am at work right now and don't have a lot of time to do research right now but will take a look. What's the price range for a week all inclusive for these? I am willing to spend around $1000 per person (going with significant other). Thanks again and Sample00, I may be in contact with you directly very shortly

I think the food is better in Mexico than the Carribbean.
We liked Bahia Principe at Tulum. (South of Cancun).

I'll be going on my honeymoon in February, you'll likely be hearing from me in a bit when we figure things out.
What is the lowest we could get a half decent all inclusive for a week in February for (Mexico, Carribean etc)?

Breezes Varedaro is my personal favorite.. Although the resort us under some removations right now.. Finally as it was one of the oldest resorts on the beach. Close to the golf course if that is your thing. The best part is the staff. We have been a few times now and we actually keep in contact with some of the staff. last time we were down we they had a big party for us at one of there houses. It was great.

I am not a fan of Mexico, depends your relation ship and whom you are going with, if you are single and going with friends go to Costa Rica, you will give yourself neck lasserations wth all the amazing looking women down there. And they actually dont hate Americans down there so its relatively easy to um, score.
St Marts etc is very nice as well, I wouldnt go there with a GF or wife as the stores there are very high end and will break you in an afternoon.

			Hey,
I just went to Cuba last summer, but I stayed at the Super Breezes Jibacoa. Very very nice place, free drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), great all around food has a italian and cuban restaurant as well as a large buffet. Very clean place, however, sand doesn't quite match up to that of varadero, but nice weather. Staff also real friendly. As for tours and such in Cuba, our resort was nice since we are in the middle of Varadero and Havana so we got to experience a bit of both cities as they are very different. Tours are very nice, but you can do your own thing as well, we hired a taxi for very cheap took us everywhere, walked around with us... but interms of shopping, not much. Mainly just statues/crafts and such, almost the same everywhere. We got our deal for around $850 a person including flight and everything. If you want pictures or more information just PM me.
