Or how I want more European national car options for the North American market.
It seems appropriate to start a new thread about a car sweeping the European market by storm. Perfect for that small, urban family on the go, the Skoda Fabia is an excellent example of transparent corporate cronyism, and a government willing to make the appropriate sacrifices to create national jobs.
It may be kind of ugly, but it is cheap, fuel-efficient, and perfect for that new driver who doesn't make decisions based on technological hype or a transplanted Canadian's Twitter account.
Ha, I've driven a few Skodas in my life and they are great cars. They basically drive like their parent VW, often tend to have better reliability, and are more affordable. I've had the chance to drive that Fabia, and it has no problems cruising at 140 on the Autobahn, and had a ton of space inside.
As nice as the Fabia is, the one Skoda that I really want though is the Octavia wagon. Clean lines, lots of glass, and lots of space. If this thing (or the larger Superb) came to Canada, I'd get it in a heartbeat as the family car.
Back in the 80s, my family had a couple of these old Octavia Kombi's from the 60s. Skoda is actually one of the oldest car companies in existence.

Amen. I wish North America got more wagon love. Sure the E series Wagon is nice, but I'm not in the 1% and cannot afford such extravagance. And the Outback is now a bloated mess. Death to the CUV.

The RoW version of the Ford Fusion -- the Ford Mondeo -- is actually a hatchback... think BMW GranCoupe. And it comes in a diesel. With a 6 speed manual.
I absolutely loved driving it in Reading last week. Wicked car.

The Mondeo Estate looks awesome. Make it happen, Ford Canada!

We had the TDI version of that for a rental. Basically exactly like my friends Golf Sportwagen. It was great.

You know what kills me?
I agree 100%, but I just bought one
When looking for an AWD, manual "Wagon" (calling an outback a wagon is getting borderline now) it was either a coming off or out of warranty German option, or, well, nothing.
Knowing that manuals will be likely dead in this segment soon, we got the only thing we could that sort of satisfied those requirements.
I guess we ended up buying the least CUV like CUV we could get.. haha.
They look more wagon like lowered, which has me tempted...
But then again having the same ground clearance as a Dodge Ram seems brag worthy.. or something.

Is Kombi a wagon in countries outside of Poland as well?
