That's essentially the lowest number in the SAGD side of the industry. Cenouvous is about the same.
It doesn't include financing costs or capex as you state, and it also doesn't include royalties, transportation, taxes or G&A.

That is pretty crazy. I wonder if Baker Hughes can somehow survive at this point? I doubt they have much staff and probably not very many clients.

Wonder if they will approach NOV for a merger. Trying to rebuild in this environment seems like a fools game.

O&G bankruptcies in the US reaching epidemic proportions:

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-us...e=businessNews

Quote:
The rout in crude prices is snowballing into one of the biggest avalanches in the history of corporate America, with 59 oil and gas companies now bankrupt after this week's filings for creditor protection by Midstates Petroleum and Ultra Petroleum.

The number of U.S. energy bankruptcies is closing in on the staggering 68 filings seen during the depths of the telecom bust of 2002 and 2003, according to Reuters data, the law firm Haynes & Boone and bankruptcydata.com.

Does anyone know how many Canadian firms have gone bankrupt? id be curious to compare the ratio of national bankruptcies to total national production rates.

I haven't seen news of many here.

There's been quite a few. Not all of them as high profile as Spyglass or Terra.

But just a few weeks ago it was Sanjel - they are a big one, but many smaller frac companies have filed CCAA as well.

Now Lightstream has 90 days to cure its borrowing base shortfall or it goes down too.

Numerous competitors to my company have filed CCAA as well.

Is this correct, there is only a $2.33 discount from WTI to WCS?

http://www.psac.ca/business/firstenergy/

Western Canada Select ($C/bbl) 42.33
WTI Cushing Spot (US$/bbl) 44.66

This May 6 Bloomberg article shows different:

It's pretty standard in takeover deals to have high break fees, for precisely this scenario. The company being taken over is going to face some hardship recovering from layoffs, messaging to customer, reputation harm etc...

This one worked out to about 10% of the original deal, is that typical or does it vary a lot from deal to deal?

There is plenty of variance, as that is a negotiated term, but I think eyeballing most deals would land you at around 10%.
