HC: Dunno, can't say I know enough about any of the coaching candidates.
6th overall: Matthew Tkachuk, think he slips to us.
Starting goalie: James Reimer.
Biggest roster player trade: Don't see us trading anyone.
Buyout: No. Going to need every penny we can get going into the 17-18 season.

HC - Travis Green
6th - Tkachuk or Brown
Goalie - Murray
Big Trade - Wideman+Shinkaruk
Buyout - Raymond

Wait, are we making predictions, or wishes?

See.... you can't just pick Dubois at 6 without explaining how we got him at 6. If he's available at 5 the canucks will take him.

IMO its unlikely we see a major roster player trade. Too many guys with limited value because of their contract. If we see a real "hockey trade", I suspect Colborne or Backlund would be involved.

I also don't think we see a buyout. Nor a significant UFA signing.

I predict a combination of draft picks gets traded for a goalie. Then essentially similar roster to last year going into next trade deadline at which time BT gets some giggle room to make some moves.

Need one more year of patience. And I hope one of our prospects, anyone, makes a big jump, surprises everyone in camp and makes the team and contributes throughout the year.

In the summer of 2012 a team that had just finished with 74 pts in the 82 game regular season extended a smaller winger who had just finished his 2nd season in the NHL with 34 goal and 76 pts to 6x6 deal.

They had just locked down a high draft pick who was living up to expectations year before his ELC was done to a 6x7 deal so that he wouldn't be open to an offer sheet.

The team immediately improved to 45 pts in 48 games. (77 pts in 82 games) They had a 19 year old centre who was a Calder trophy finalist who they also extended with a 6x7 the next off season with a year left on his ELC.

This team is one of the most ridiculed in NHL history. What the heck were they doing locking down a core long-term that had not shown any indications of playing winning hockey.

There is a very huge risk to the team committing before establishing a winning tradition.

No just expecting a middling stop gap solution for this particular issue and Johnson fits the bill well

Yawn. Go cheer for the Oilers then you clown. You'd fit right in with their fanbase, clueless and over reliant on pointless stat arguments.

Are you seriously suggesting we shouldn't lock up Gaudreau and Monahan? GTFO you troll. This filth shouldn't be allowed to pollute perfectly good threads. Do you even know how to address the topic at hand? What a joke.

It is a huge summer for the Flames. I think after 3 full years of rebuild g they are getting ready to push forward and try and pry the window open to contend. Playoffs are definitely the goal. Treliving has put some added pressure on himself by removing Hartley and stating that a lot of improvement is required.

Head coach: Tough to say. I voted Sutter in the recent poll but I also think Green has a really strong chance. The past couple days hearing about the fact Sutter remains undecided about the Kings I get the feeling that something could be in the works for the job here. I see him retaining Gelinas, he pisses the presence and likes to play the black and blue style the Flames want. I think he would be welcomed back by the fans who remember him as a great coach (he has continued to prove that in LA).

Draft: 10th- Logan Brown. Flames trade down with the Avs and add the big center to the fold and hope to build a big team down the line

Goalie: Varlomov- Flames nab Varlomov in the trade with the Avs as well to clear up the goalie issue

Biggest trade: Backlund- Flames sell high on Backs and land a top winger in the deal

Buyouts: none
