@FriedgeHNIC: Some other notes from Headlines: don't be surprised if CAL interviews VAN assistant Glen Gulutzan. He and Brad Treliving both played...

I think if Darryl was the coach in 2009-10 the Flames would have been one of the top teams and wouldn't have collapsed mid-season. Maybe Darryl would have been too preoccupied to gut the team with terrible trades too.
I actually think he would have made better trades. Darryl's trades were very good for a long time, but the more years removed from that as head coach, the less able he was to read the pulse of the team, and see what was needed or missing. I do think that if he took over after Keenan, things would have looked a lot different for the Flames.

Not that his credibility could drop much further but Eric Francis really looks like a grade A moron now. He flat out guaranteed Boudreau would be the Flames coach on more than one occasion this past week.

Glen Gulutzan? Assistant coach in Vancouver and played minor hockey with Treliving?

I am very nervous about this hire.

Marc Crawford, Randy Carlyle, and Glen Gulitzan?

I really think the media has no inside information. Names being spewed left and right.

The Flames have somebody in mind.

Well, maybe whoever he was talking to in the Flames hierarchy thought so; they just forgot to ask Boudreau.

It's going to be Randy Carlyle, and I'm going to cry and throw up all at the same time.

Oh man, starting to get a little nervous. Sutter and Dineen seem far away the best choices, but we are only hearing rumours of carlyle, Crawford, and now an assistant from the lowly Canucks.

Elliote Friedman @FriedgeHNIC

Via text, Darryl Sutter agreed with Dean Lombardi that he is "still undecided" about coaching LA. Sutter said he is watching to see...

what the Kings will look like through free agency, the cap and its prospects. Said his family has enjoyed it in LA and "that has weight"...

but wants to win another Cup and that is also "a big factor." That is it for now.

The Flames not even contacting Bruce leads me to believe they have a guy already. If they were planning on finding the best candidate through interviewing, Bruce would have 100% been contacted.

Worry not, my children. The pieces are all falling into place for a triumphant Iron Mike return.

Maybe they did and he didn't feel the Flames were a good fit?

I have to admit I'm apprehensive about this also. Boudreau was a clear upgrade on Hartley, but none of the other names being linked to the Flames strike me as attractive options. If it ends up being Carlyle I may even stop watching Flames hockey entirely.

I would be ok with Sutter but have little faith he would welcome a return here.

Has everyone suddenly decided to quit believing in BT? Seeing as how every other major move this organisation has made since he came on board has had almost zero media leaks my level of worry is nil.

Maybe. I just think we would have heard about it. Every other team that contacted Bruce was in the media. I know the Flames don't leak much, but would think we would have heard atleast something about the two parties if they have contact with each other.

Perhaps Burke is looking at John Brophy. Brophy oozes truculence.
