Maybe Treliving didn't make this decision, my gut tells me someone likely sped the process up when Bruce Boudreau became available (a knee jerk reaction). Hartley was quoted as saying he was caught off guard as he thought he and Treliving were on the same page. He even talked about the process of the team being ready to compete for the playoffs within the next 2 years.
The question begs, who is really making this decision Burke, or Treliving? This just seems so unTreliving like when you consider he would rather have guys develop on the farm sticking around for the long term. I bet Treliving is the type that would have no problem telling Hartley ahead of time if he was going to actually let him go. This process really puts Treliving in a position to make a mistake or accept whats available and not really hiring the guy he wants.
