On the contrary, I would say he is doing it right: history shows that the Oilers are ready and willing to reward marginal college UFAs with top-line minutes and inflated contracts.

Toe Dragula? He'll fit in well with the Oilers.

The Oilers are a great choice for these types because they know that they will get a lot of rope and that they will get overpaid. If a player isn't confident that they will have a long NHL career, the Oilers are a good place to pad their stats and their wallet. Look how they set Justin Shultz up financially for life.

So he was the MVP of the the Frozen 4 and The Flyers and Hawks were after him as well as the Canucks.

Where would he rank on the Flames prospects Jankowski, Agostino, Knight, Jooris, Klimchuck, Arnold, Shinkaruk, Poirier.

He had a better NCAA career than any Flame other than Gaudreau.

Not a big deal but like getting a 2nd or 3rd round pick for nothing.

The Oilers move Eberle/Yakapov and RNH and they might have room for a small forward.

another foward added to the bloated ranks of Edmonton's team of fowards shouldn't worry anyone...

He clearly wasnt paying attention to the sheer hell that Schultz had to walk through by choosing the exact same path.

Maybe he thinks this is the way to eventually wind up on the Penguins?

He'll fit right in with the oilers organization. They're all about making bad decisions.

It's basically exactly what was posted above, a free mid-round pick. Well under a 50% chance he ever becomes anything noteworthy, but it's just another lottery ticket and you can't have too many of those. Especially ones you didn't have to pay for.

Why? It's not like Oilers drafted him and he doesn't have a choice. He chose to sign with the Oilers, bed has been made.
