Jets are the only team on that list with a good young goalie that has shown anything in the NHL

Klefbom/Nurse are good pieces, and they have the pieces in order to trade for others too

its easier to trade for D than a legitimate 1C

Cam Talbot has a .918 SV% this season behind a poor defensive team. He had a .926 SV% a year ago behind an average defensive team. I'd argue he's establishing himself as a top 10 GT.

Davidson and Klefbom were both having big seasons before their injuries. They might not be #1s but they're #3/#2 type guys and when you have a McDavid you don't always need a #1.

Again, Edmonton's core might look good on paper, but F that crap, you have to wait and see with that tire fire before giving them any credit.

How many years in a row do they have to suck before people quit putting the cart before the horse with that big pile of turds up north?

They don't look good on paper to me. All of their main guys are great at having terrible ethic defensively as well as very poor teamplay. Is there a single player on their team that plays a good two way game?

In fairness, the Flames young core has the most playoff games played, and the most series wins.

It won't be long before the cup ends up in Canada with the recent additions of high end prospects to Canadian teams. Not that I care if other Canadian teams win it besides the Flames.

The problem with the Oilers core is that before they ever get a sniff of the success they are trying to luck themselves into the salary cap will destroy a good portion of it.

That goes for all the good young cores.... The Flames are close to the cap drafting 6th.

pretty much expecting that Monahan and Gaudreau are going to get 13M between them.

The Jets are looking at the same thing with Trouba and Scheifele.

The best cap management seems to be Florida who went 3.235M for Hurbedeau on a bridge. Be interesting how they handle Trocheck.

Not even close. The Flames have a bunch of older bad contracts eating up space, the Oilers have a bunch of young high end players that will eat a fortune. Not even comparable.

Yeah and by the time the Oilers are anywhere near contenders? McDavid 11 million? Draisaitl 6-7 million? How can you be so shortsighted?

I assume that since he wasn't identified as the core he would be traded.

Did we trade Giordano? He starts a six year deal next year.

Do you think McDavid is making 11M for winning the SC or just dominating the league Ovechkin style?

Neither, its by holding the Oilers by their ying yangs. He will be given a blank check to sign a max 8 year deal otherwise he can wait it out and leave the first chance he gets. So the blank check it is.
