I dont see it as petty.
If I want to take my kid to a hockey game I have to pay for it. I cant even deduct it from my taxes if my company pays for the whole thing because its a personal expense.
Why do the taxpayers pay for his personal expenses? He gets paid a salary, he has his own money to pay for personal expenses.

If every PM has done it like that, and it's not breaking any rules, it's kind of hard to judge JT for it. It sounds like what some people want is for some of the perks of being PM to be removed. That's fine, but you can't get mad at JT for taking advantage of them as they currently exist.

And thats totally fair. I was using the Harper example.
At the same time though its pretty silly bringing your entire extended family with you on every trip. Thats ridiculous. Its like Thanksgiving Dinner every day.
Look at all of the other politicians that travel like that.

Meh. He gets a pretty crappy salary considering he is running the country so I personally could care less if he takes his kids to the hockey game on taxpayer expense.
As long as he does a decent job politically and doesn't go crazy with his expenses I don't see the big deal.

For me its the tradition. Would the song be the same today? Obviously not. But let's not pretend we need a Skrillex EDM version of the anthem because we hold different opinions today either. Like you, I don't really care about the anthem and have a hard time thinking that many people do; its not hurting anything so just leave it alone.
