I don't think a 1st rounder a year from now is what they'd be looking for to move down. Imagine the situation was reversed. Would you trade out of the top 3 for a 1st next year? Hell no.
They'd need a top young player or a combination of top prospects and picks to even consider it. Imagine what it would take for the Flames to move down from #3 to #6, that's what it'll take

I don't think a #1 from next year would work either. The Flames had a terrible season and ended up picking 6th. We're likely to improve next year and a 8-15 pick or worse doesn't seem that appealing in the face of a potential star player they can draft this year at #3.
I think it would take something that would sting to give up.
Like 6OA, our 2nd or Dallas's pick (whichever is higher), Jankowski and one of our top defensive prospects (Anderson, Kylington or Hickey)
People will gulp reading that, but for Jesse Puljujarvi, that likely doesn't even get it done.

Huh? Maybe you should stop getting so defensive. People are allowed to talk about whatever they want here, both you and I. I'm not attacking you, I just think that wouldn't be a tempting offer to move up.
If the Flames had the #3 pick and CBJ had #6 would you trade the #3 for the #6 and CBJ's 1st next year? I wouldn't. That's all I'm saying. It's nothing personal about you, if anybody would've suggested it I would've posted the exact same response.
I just think if you wanna imagine what it would take to move up, that easiest way to do that is to imagine you are the other team and imagine what you would demand to move down. No need to get so worked up about it.

I did't quantify that offering up the 2017 1st on top of #6 would get the trade done. But it would open up negotiations. And if the Hamilton trade proved anything, the insane overpayments a fan base can drum up is nothing near what it actually takes to get a trade done.

If that's all it took, I'd do it without a second thought. Don't think Columbus would bite though. We're talking potential franchise winger down to first or second line winger, a third line centre, and an alright d prospect. I wouldn't do it if I were them. It's a quality for quantity trade IMO, and teams normally wouldn't do those.

I've read a few of your posts and generally I like reading your opinions but I don't understand why you get so defensive all the time especially towards FDW

How does one not get defensive when every post to a particular topic is quoted and argued by only one person with great frequency?
And the way you go about "discussing" anything I post is angled towards telling me how I should think. If I wanted to think like you, I wouldn't post and just thank every post you make.
Take a step back and look at your post freqeuncy and tell me you're not in overdrive to keep a lid on things and keep the conversation going they way you want it. If anyone is on high alert here it's you.

It's unrelenting with FDW. Seriously it's bordering on Harrasment.

Put him on ignore? You're now derailing this thread, because his comment here wasn't off the mark at all.

I'd write the same responses to you on most of your posts if FDW didn't so it's not just him who disagrees with you (not trying to sound demeaning)

I used to butt heads with FDW all the time, I sometimes still do but it is really nothing personal. It is just passionate fans getting their point across and discussion, nothing more.

I have too much time on hands right at the moment is the issue. I'm responding to everything about the draft because I'm passionate about it and love discussing it. I'm sorry you feel harassed.
Peace, love and understanding.

next thing we are waiting for this off season is to see if Dallas can get past St. Louis to we know what we are working with, then will come the announcement on weather or not there will be expansion and then the draft and then free agency all the while waiting to see who our new head coach is, lots to keep an eye on this off season.

No. Against the cubicle calendar hawks in my office, I basically need to have that time off planned by Jan 2016 if I want to go
