I'd rather see Treliving fired rather than Hartley, TBH.
One good season in four buys Hartley a while bunch of get out of jail free cards?

That was when Monahan and Gaudreau were late for practice the next day and were subsequently scratched the following game.

Crazy that people think our GM should be fired after two years on the job crushing trade after trade, while Hartley got the shaft after one good season out of four.

He did, although I'm not sure Duha (who I love) really understood Rhett's point. He shot it down and went off about suspending the players for a game is how you handle that and it was good, and other teams did it to.

I think Rhett's point wasn't about how they handled it, it was the fact that a bunch of players DID IT in the first place show's that maybe Hartley had lost their respect (you show up for work on time and practice for leaders you respect theory). While it could be reaching, I'm not sure Duha was looking at it the same way Rhett was, and I think Rhett might get it better being an EX player. Duha talked about how Ovi did it too.........Ovi slept in and didn't set an alarm, very different behind making a consious decision the night before a practice to party so hard you might not make it or can't get through practice the next day.

This might be driven by the disagreement that BT had with Hartley over Hamilton.

Despite Hamilton's career year in scoring he was not the catalyst the Flames needed to step up to being a solid playoff team.

Hamilton was signed as a top 2 d-man and was supposed to be one of BT's "Best Move of his career"

Hartley started Hamilton as top 2 but then moved him down to #5 for most of the year.

It seemed to me that the Hamilton supporters were pushing for more Ice time and a bigger role for Hamilton all year.

After the trade deadline with Russell and Wideman out Hamilton still did not get much of a bigger role.

Only at the very end did Hamilton get paired with Brodie and Brodie's immaculate +/- took a hit (-9) the last 17 games.

Really stunned my arse this morning, but after listening to the Fan, reading the thread, and thinking about his for a while I'm on board with the change.

Bob did incredible things during his time in Calgary. As mentioned, he was an integral part in changing the culture of the team and embracing it during a rebuild. He had a magical run last season where he and his staff were able to pull career years out of inexperienced players and win a round in the playoffs. He topped it off with a well-deserved Jack Adams. He was super-likable and genuine.

However, he definitely had some issues that culminated in the bad news today:
-Inability to adapt
-Over reliance on offense
-Negligence of defense
-Over reliance on veterans
-Poor special teams
-Inconsistent accountability

Those are all deficiencies that do not need to be plaguing a young team. He also needs to have some responsibility regarding the goaltending situation (giving Ramo and Hiller an opportunity to find their groove, but not Ortio when the other two were failing).

Thanks for everything Bob. I wish you nothing but the best of luck in the future!

I saw somewhere awhile ago, that one of Edmontons biggest problems is their coaches turnover, whereas other teams that have gone through rebuilds with the same coaches are much better(obviously).

I just don't want to fall into the coach carousel cycle, like Edmonton, and I really don't understand why Hartley was let go.

That's how I interpreted it as well. Rhett was talking about the fact that it even happened in the first place, not how the team reacted after. It wasn't an accident, like Ovechkin missing an alarm.

I went to the game that night. The fella I went with is friends with a Flames Alumni. The 3 of us were chatting before the game. The Alumni told he and I flat out that was the case. He also then told some funny stories about his time playing.
