Cervenka got robbed of his shot. Hopefully Pribyl doesn't have the same fate.

Huh?! I think Cervenka was given every chance to succeed. He had a hard time adjusting early and that had a trickle effect which impacted his icetime and being on the ice in critical situations.

Cervenka was a big time disappointment, but he was low risk, so no harm.

If the same fate happens to Pribyl, no biggie. But him starting in the AHL, where Cervenka should have been to get adjusted, I think Pribyl may adjust great.

Watching his you tube vids, he's got a nose for the net and uses his size. Not very fleet of foot, but looks to protect the puck well while driving the net.

Comes across as bit more gritty of a Joe Colborne.

Cervenka had to play in a lock out year and missed lots of time due to a blood clot. Hardly a normal shot.

Cervenka probably could have gotten another one year deal somewhere else, he choose to go back to Russia. Bet if he decided to give if another going some one would sign him.

Pribyl scored exactly 1.0 ppg in the Czech league this year, meaning he should reasonably be expected to score about 0.44 ppg in the NHL, which would be a 36 point pace.

That sounds reasonable. He was 2nd in the league in points, after all, behind only Roman Cervenka... who scored at a 36 point pace in the NHL.
If he happens to get a chance to play opposite side of Gaudreau, you have to multiply the NHLe by 1.5

He sounds like a right-shot version of Colborne. Good hands. Big and strong but not overly physical.

Eric Francis @EricFrancis
Treliving said Pribyl tore his ACL in playoffs 2 weeks ago & had surgery in Calgary to repair it. Should be fine for training camp. #Flames

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
A bit late on this, but #Flames signee Daniel Pribyl will spend big chunk of this summer in Calgary rehabbing from knee surgery.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
In my chat with #Flames GM Brad Treliving, stressed repeatedly that RW Daniel Pribyl is not a saviour, likely to need time in AHL.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames GM Brad Treliving on RW Daniel Pribyl: "He’s a big body who shoots right and can make plays, and we’re short on that."

Drew Shore goes into the corner and cries softly.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
More from #Flames Treliving on Prybil: "This is still a two-year project. I know people will say, ‘Oh, slide him beside Johnny and Mony.’

I like how every young prospect or new player with size gets compared to Colborne nowadays.

A grittier Colborne!
A faster Colborne!
A more intelligent Colborne!
Colborne, except if Colborne were elite and not Colborne!

He'll Pribyl-y get some line time with Johnny and Monny, but I'd be happy if he plays like Colborne and found a slot on the 2nd line.

Age wise it sounds like this could be compared to signing a well regarded free agent college grad, except he's been playing at a higher level. If things go well, we may see similar progress as Nakladal.

If he out performs David Jones I'll be happy.

Be prepared to be happy. Setting Jones as the standard should be easy to achieve. Besides his very few games in his multiple years in Calgary, he was useless.
