A buddy took the Specialized Levo up moose mountain and down family guy. He's got to be 250 lbs, but he got the KOM in strava. People lost their minds because of it. It was pretty funny that people take these things so seriously. He then took the Turbo out and got the KOM up Cochrane hill. Immediately people lost their #### again. Of course he got reported, and those rides were eliminated. He loves the Levo. Says it helps him keep up on the climbs, but he's still faster than all of us on the downhills. You still pedal, and the power output is dependant on how hard you pedal. So when he got to the top of both rides, he almost threw up. He just wanted the KOM, even for a day.

Somebody recommend me a cyclocross in for less than $1000. New or used I don't care. Need in the 58cm range and can't seem to find anything used.

I was going to recommend a Cannondale CAAD X, with one of the lower group settings, but they have gone up huge in price. When I looked at them 18 months ago, the 105 setup was around $1,500. That's now $2,000 on the 2016 model. If you can find the 2014 years, and maybe in the Tiagra setup, I'd go with that. A used one should be well under $1,000.

I'd sell you mine. I don't really have anywhere to store it right now so it just sits in my entryway.

You'd think, but CX bikes seem to be expensive on the second hand market.

I find a lot of people try and get almost what they paid for a bike, even when it's a couple years old. It's baffling.

It's what the market will bear, I guess. Particularly when your bike has had some money put into it and isn't appreciably worse to ride than a new bike, it's not THAT unreasonable not to depreciate it a bunch. Peoples' options are limited - it's either Kijiji or the bike shop.

Just past your $1000.00 price limit is a new 2016 Kona Jake at $1399.00
at Bow Cycle you might want to go there and see if they have some older stock on sale or cut you a deal.
Anyhow I will keep my eyes open for you

I didn't know cheating was so sophisticated these days, crazy. I also didn't know they scan bikes for these sorts of things either. Why do cyclists keep on cheating? As a professional athlete, what is the glory in that?

There will always be cheating. The amateurs dope, too.

Hells bells, you don't even have to ride a bike any more:
 http://www.digitalepo.com/
Just plug someone else's file into this program, tell it by how much you want to out perform it and it spits out a new file that you can upload to your favorite activity tracker and, voila, new KOM/segment champ.

^ good grief - as an aside, how powerful could a motor hidden in a seat tube really be. nice to see this rider retire at 19 though....

I was thinking when I ran strave on my phone, I would not take my backpack off until I got up to my cube on the 8th floor and as such it would make my commute look tougher with additional climbing

This one is rated at 200W. It is 1.8 kg, though. It's pushing 3000 Euros, too. I think the tri geeks use them
