Well, I need to eat some crow. I said a long time ago that Trump (and Cruz too for that matter) wouldn't come anywhere near the GOP nomination. I was wrong. I underestimated the stupidness of my fellow Americans immensely.
We basically have a worst case scenario coming up here, though I believe Clinton will win easily. I think she's a terrible candidate, but she's 100X better than Trump. I hope some worthy folks emerge over the next couple of years. It is looking very grim on the horizon in terms of leadership in this country.

I'm not knowledgeable enough on the American political system to have ever joined in on this thread, so haven't made any proclamations. However, I'm sure you're not alone. I'm guessing the crow population will drop dramatically.
I'm in total, complete, utter disbelief that Trump being the GOP nominee is very close to being a reality. I feel this will make the rest of the planet send out a giant eye roll to the American people. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that, I don't know

Lots of talk about a "Big Announcement" from Cruz at 4pm ET time. A "Hail Mary". Speculation is that he could name his running mate, and that will be Carly Fiorina.
Now, why he'd name someone who flushed out so unspectacularly several months ago and hopes that doing so will turn the tide is beyond me, but that's what they are saying.

I live in Calgary, the closest thing to Toronto in the West.
No one seems to get my joke. I mean, I used to be in the GTA a lot... and I know my way around that city very well... and I love walking down Yonge or Danforth on a warm May day... but I'm a Calgarian.

Did you see Chris Christie's wife give Trump a dirty look when he went off on Hillary only being a viable candidate because she's a woman?

Trump giving his "Foreign Policy" speech right now. Coles Notes:
1) spend more on military
2) tell the other countries what to do
3) start a trade war, or a real war if it doesn't work
4) spread western values
5) "the power of weaponry is the single biggest problem we have in the world today" (direct quote)
6) America would be his first priority
7) No Globalism
8) Make America Great Again
Starting to really drill down into the complexities of world affairs. Good to see.

Favourite part of whatever the hell that was: When asked for specifics about his plan, Trump answered "We have to be unpredictable!", and shortly followed with saying the secret to foreign policy is "consistency". I know he'd probably end the world if he won, but it'd be entertaining as hell until he did bring about the apocalypse.

This whole thing is actually an amazing witness, the GOP is collapsing. I really don't see how they recover from this.
Also, there is something very Hunger Games-esque about Hillary Clinton.

Trump has the ego problem too. World leaders (like Putin, who must be dying to get a chance at him) will easily be able to bait him into doing stupid things just because it might hurt Donnie's ego otherwise. His skin is so thin you can pretty much see through him. But that's also why he'll lose a general because Hillary and company will bait him into melting down several times.

If you guessed Carly, step up and claim your prize.

And that's not gonna help. At least Trump and Cruz now each have someone who sucks at running big companies!

Worse than he has so far? If people are still supporting him after this whole campaign, I can't see what they could say, or he could do, that would deter any of those people at this point.

I'm more thinking he still has room to lose women and minorities by like a 3:1 margin, which likely produces an all-time electoral slaughter. Give him time, he'll get there.

Salon has always been pretty awful, but they're so in the tank for Bernie it's laughable. As an example, this headline...
Quote:
Please, FBI — you’re our last hope: The Democratic Party’s future rests upon your probe of Hillary Clinton’s emails
|
http://www.salon.com/2016/04/27/plea...intons_emails/
The far left meltdown in this election has almost been as entertaining as the GOP establishment meltdown.

Yeah the amount of times Trump shoots himself in the foot and still leads, is amazing. If it wasn't so scary, it's interesting to watch this phenomenon.

Sigh...
Here are many of the ways that Cruz's move is bad for him.
1: Cruz doesn't have the RNC yet... which means that he's bypassing the usual vetting process for veep prospects.
2: Usually announcing your veep get's you a news cycle in the build-up to the general... you use it to help win the presidency not the nomination
3: She's not from a swing state.
4: She has no government service experience.
5: her political experience consists of of advising losing campaigns, a losing senate bid, and a losing republican nomination bid. Notice a repeating word there?
6: If (as suspected) she was mostly tapped only for her gender... then please see Palin, Sarah & Ferraro, Geraldine.
7: Takes away a bargaining chip at the convention (Ex: won't be able to offer it to Rubio or Kasich to lure their delegates).
