no the rule changed after it happened to spurs
Quote:
The previous limit of a maximum of four teams per association will be increased to five, meaning that if the Champions League title holders or the Europa League title holders are from the top three ranked associations (but not both from the same one) and finish outside the top four of their domestic league, the fourth-placed team of their association will not be prevented from participating in the tournament. However, if both the Champions League title holders and the Europa League title holders are from the same top three ranked association and finish outside the top four of their domestic league, the fourth-placed team of their association will be moved to the Europa League
|
So if Liverpool win EL they get screwed if City win CL and dont finish top 4, otherwise they would get in

There, now that that's out of the way,

I watched the first half on replay starting after Dortmund was up 2-0. Liverpool was dominating but it's like they go brain dead when the get near the box. So many sliced shots or bobbled balls or trips.
Must be maddening watching that if they hadn't come back. You guys should make it easier on yourselves and just get a Ronaldo or Benzema

No.
Read the last sentence of your own quote.
If Liverpool win the EL, they qualify for the CL regardless. Same as City if they win the CL and finish out of the top 4.
It would be United that would lose out (assuming them to be the 4th place team) if both were to win their respective competitions.

Atletico is the team I didn't want to play. They play with a structure to withstand attacks and have the speed to kill on the counter and make life miserable for a team that has had problems defending lately

The draw is fine, theres no easy opponents left at this stage.
The CL is going to be insane. The Money Bowl should be interesting.

I agree, no easy teams left. I just think Bayern would be more "easily" able to attack City or RM rather than the disciplined Atletico.
I don't want to play City in the final if City isn't top 4 in England. (first problem is making it there)

So here's a question: If it does end up as Bayern and City, and City is outside the top 4, do Bayern even considering removing Guardiola because of the obvious conflict of interest?

No chance Pep throws that game - why waste an opportunity to have another championship to your name.
Especially because you know the mercenary wants to be the only coach to have won the Champions League with 3 different teams from 3 different leagues and winning with Bayern gives him that opportunity as he heads to Man City next year.

The way I look at it, both City and Real drew their best chance at getting through.

Rumour in Germany has it that Bayern will sign Mats Hummels this summer. At first I thought it's nonsense, but the rumour has really picked up steam over the past few days and reputable media outlets have now jumped on it. Right now it certainly seems like this one is going to happen. Apparently they'll pay €30m and give Hummels a 4 year contract.
I simply don't get why Dortmund would do this after already losing Götze and Lewandowski to them. You simply don't see that in England or Spain that the 2nd best club in the league continues to feed the best one ...

I agree, it almost makes you think that theres something else going on because I'm sure other clubs from other countries have offered €30m or more.
Didnt United offer £25M just a couple of years ago?

yeah but that was a while ago. Now Hummels is close to the end of his contract (it runs until 2017) and he really hasn't been the beast of a defender that he was a couple of years ago. I think the value is fair, it's just crazy that they would even engage in talks with Bayern. If I'm Watzke or Zorc then I give them the finger as soon as they call, but hey, those guys aren't the best in the business, we all know that.
The only scenario would be that Götze goes back to Dortmund (which has also been rumoured for a while), but I know most Dortmund fans absolutely hate the idea. Understandable, really.

Not to mention, I'm holding out hope for Liverpool to buy Gotze.

yes please!!! An often-injured and almost out-of-shape Götze under Klopp (IIRC Götze said after his Bayern move that a few more years of Klopp football would kill him physically) in a physical league like the PL ... I mean, what could go wrong?

Also....no Ronaldo vs. City today, City dodged a bullet on that one.
