I'm sad where we have situations where a very good hockey team is eliminated. I also like the Hawks for their never quit attitude and how they always seem to find a way to get back into a series when it looks like they are finished.

didn't you hear the Hawks won the deadline and are unstoppable, or was that the Panthers? or the Rangers?

Happy for the fans in St.Louis. They have a good team and finally managed to get past Chicago. That Brouwer for Oshie deal got them that missing goal they've been looking for.

The Hawks loss means the Jets pick from the Ladd deal is no higher than 24th. Bad trade in the end, for Chicago. Ladd simply wasn't a difference maker out there

Great series. Could have gone either way. Glad to see a a new team moving on.

Also, hoping that the Flames have a player or two as clutch as the Hawks when they are contending.

The Blues winning probably saved the jobs of Hitchcock and his staff.

It was all part of the 'Hawks master plan to sabotage St. Loo, by tricking them into retaining Hitch!

In all seriousness...

IMO the weakness of my team ALL YEAR was #1LW and 3rd pair D...Toews/Hossa had nothing to work with for much of the year, and father time is stalking #81...and the lack of defensive depth finally bit us in the behind...

Hossa looked better as a #3RW, but that left a huge hole on the top line that Pluggers like Shaw or Panik were just wishful thinking that they'd be adequate.

The whole team ran out of steam...and Elliot aside, the damn goal posts came up big...our failures to finish WHEN the puck got by Elliot sunk us.

Looking at some of the changes in store...

Have a great retirement Rozi and Erhoff...DON'T COME BACK.

Shaw is an RFA with arbitration, so he may be done.

Adios Ladd, Flash, Mash, Weise all UFAs that either are unaffordable (Ladd) or surplus

Rasmussen and Panik are RFAs that I could see giving a shot...

For God/Allah/Elvis/Buddah's sake, BUY OUT RUNDBLAD'S LAST YEAR!

And Leighton is gone too, so we need to look at a #3G to stash in the system.

There were signs all year that this team had some flaws...there was some hope that they could overcome those flaws, but, sputtering down the stretch, and failure to finish spelled the end.

One last thought...UPGRADE THE D@MN COACHING STAFF BY SUBTRACTING KITCHEN, who deserves some blame for special teams deficiencies, and defensive messes.

The Blues move on...can't say I like their style, overreliance on picks, for even simple zone entries...But kudos to them for moving on...Elliot is their MVP at this point.

I do hope, though, that you guys get the draft boost from a Dallas advance now.

I can't believe St. Louis actually managed to not choke this away again. I wonder what Chicago fans are feeling

Good for the Blues. I wanted CHI to win for the easiest road for Dallas to make the WCF, but now I'm just happy there's going to be a new champ!

All that is needed now is a NSH win and the NHL can relish in some parity selling.

Having won 3 cups in the last 6 years, I doubt they'd be all that sad about losing in the first round.

I'm not so sure. If the Blues suffer a quick exit against the Stars I could still see the coaching staff overhauled. I think the expectations are to get to the Stanley Cup finals and if I was him I wouldn't feel safe unless they get at the very least within a few games of getting to the finals.

He's not overrated in the very least but he was very, very quiet this series. The Hawks are pretty thin at talent after their top guys and I don't know if he's trying to do too much. I thought Crawford was their best player overall in the series as he made some big saves to keep them in the series right until the very end.

I will take the overrated Toews and his 108 pts in 124 playoff games any day of the week over Andrew Ladd and his 18 points in 64 playoff games.

How Ladd has (maybe had) a reputation as playoff performer is beyond me, the guys offensive production falls off a cliff come playoff time.
