Electrical Bill
I am interested in Distribution and Transmission charges on your electrical bills. We live in rural Alberta M.D. of Foothills with a farm service Rate 21.
Our Transmission and Distribution charges are different than a neighbor that lives across the road and has electricity delivered by the same power lines. Wondering what people in Villages, Towns, Cities and other Provinces are charged for T and D.
For Farm Service Distribution charges are a formula $0.5072 X KVa X days
we have a 5 KVa transformer. So basically $2.536 per day for Distribution.
Transmission is charged at 3.448 cents/ kWh. So for a 30 day period and 600 kWh consumption, Distribution is $76.08 and Transmission $20.69
Neighbor, classified as Country Residential Rate 11 (has the same 5 KVa transformer)
Distribution $0.6983/day plus 1.9671 cents/kWh
Transmission 3.3094 cents/ kWh
For 30 days and 600 kWh Distribution is $32.75 and Transmission $19.86

Your T&D charges should be based off of your demand, not your consumption. That means that they use the highest value of demand you saw over the last 12 month period. So even if you generally have low consumption, if you had a very high month, that's what you're paying for the next 12 months. I don't know for sure that that's how farm services work, but it probably is.

I don't believe are rates are set by demand, the rates for all Farms are the same as posted on the Fortis Web site.

Just took a look at the rate table, and you are charged by demand if you don't have a breakered service.
I realize, though, that I didn't really answer your question. T&D charges are publicly available through the auc site, or through any of the distributors' websites. There usually aren't that many different rate types for single family home services, so it's pretty easy to find. If you were able to find yours you should be able to find anyone else's. Keep in mind, T&D charges are based on the distributor, not the retailer, so it doesn't actually matter who you're paying for power, but actually who's delivering the power to you.
Here's the rate table for EPCOR, up in my neck of the woods.

Whatever it is, it is a helluva lot less than what I am paying in Ontario.

I would try and figure out whether you can get reclassified as county residential.

I’m considering going to EPCOR. I’m tired of the high rates.
