Don't see that happening at 6th

Tireless Treliving probably has a list of what he thinks every team wants in that 8-13 range and can make a quick call or two after a time out.
You must have an idea of who the Flames are considering? Any insight to share? I would find it hard to believe they are thinking defensemen at all this year.

I don't think dman either.

But if there's a push for say Nylander or a defenseman at 7 and the Flames would be happy to take a forward they like at 8 I see opportunity.

Especially if as I said the Oilers and Canucks are top three and a defenseman hasn't been taken by 6.

The antsy for Chychrun crowd may jump up.

What's your impression of Chychrun? Is he like a lot of the guys that were ranked high early, and just hasn't met expectations?

I'm just a reader ... read a bunch and take it in and form opinions but I haven't scouted any of these guys so I shouldn't say.

does seem like Chychrun lustre is fading though.

I guess I'm in the

Matthews
Laine
Tough to spell
Dubois
Tkachuk

top five crowd

I think that Dubois is moving into consensus top 4 territory from what I've read as well (am in the same boat as a reader, don't see the non WHL guys other than highlights).

After that, Tkachuk, Nylander, Juolevi and Chrychrun seem to be up and down people's lists, but all seem to be in that next tier. I'm OK with whoever the Flames scouts like more of that group as they'll probably get their second choice from that group in reality.

They all seem like valuable pieces going forward. Not particularly attached to Tkachuk or any others, I was hoping for Dubois, but that hot streak down the stretch likely killed that chance barring a lottery win.

There are lots of interesting guys after that top 7 too and that's where it makes sense for the flames to trade down a slot or two if they love one of these guys. Jost and Keller have elite skills, both seem like swings for the fences. Gauthier is a huge RW who looks like he has twice the skill and mobility of Nick Ritchie but less of a liking for the rough stuff - seems like a 3rd liner at worst. McLeod is another big guy with impressive skill and mobility. Would be excited to add any of them.

My longshot hope is that if the Flames end up 6th that Columbus is not sold on Dubois and the Flames get and swap that late 1st and maybe a prospect to move from 6 to 4. I don't think a move into the top 3 can happen.

That's the thing - chances are Columbus has their eyes on Dubois if they don't get a lottery pick. Especially after trading Johansen.

Best bet for Dubois dropping past 4 would be Columbus moving into Top 3 gabbing a Finn and Canucks taking a Defenceman

Yes I would be really surprised if Columbus doesn't take Dubois at 4 as well if that's how it played out with Johansen out of the picture. I think either of those last two meaningless wins were effectively the difference between Dubois and that next tier for the flames.

That said, you never know what Columbus's (or the Flames) scouts think. They could see Nylander as a game breaker or Juolevi/Chrychrun as more of a sure thing.

Their defensive depth is not amazing either and is almost as big of a need for them with Jenner, Dubinsky and Wennberg down the middle already.

Jack Johnson was terrible this year and besides him it's pretty much Jones, Murray and Savard. 1 good defender and two OK ones - not a d-core that you're going to win anything with.

I think this Factor prohibits us from taking him if we hold at our current position. If he had elite and generational level, he could be an option, but he doesn't.

Given the big skilled bodies that will be available, believe he would be further down our list.

Logan brown ,Joey Anderson each had 2 goals. I was also impressed with Kailer Yamamoto who had one goal.

Puljujärvi getting ice for his wrist after almost every shift, clearly hurt by that slash at the end of last game, and has been getting some hard crosschecks and slashes in this game. Clearly showing pain on the bench several times. Also playing probably his best game in the tournament. Kids got some fight in him.

Finns up 4 - 1 after 2 periods. (Tolvanen, Somppi, Tuulola, Puljujärvi for the Finns, Andersson for Sweden.)
