Whats up with Bjugstad? That toe pick face first into the boards looked nasty.

it was not loud for an NHL rink in the playoffs in overtime...Dallas and LA were on another level. Commentators even commented in how quiet it was at times.

I'm sure it was louder than a regular season game in Florida

Glad to know you were there, and also in every other rink during playoff overtime games to gauge it properly.

It's a fair criticism when the play by play crew points it out.

I think the fan turnout has been underwhelming and disappointing to say the least.

Does anybody know the actual attendance numbers for both cities so far this series? I know Florida and Brooklyn were both near the bottom during the regular season.

Florida was 26th during the season at 90.3%, and the Islanders were 27th at 86.2%.

Those numbers seem propped up though as they count tickets sold not bodies in seats though.

you were in one of the rinks...you just might be a little biased. Watching all three games I am pretty confident LA and Dallas are louder rinks

glad you enjoyed the game and there were more than 10k fans

I'm looking at the game summaries now. First game I checked was game 4 and official attendance was 15.795, which is a sellout for hockey at Barclays.

EDIT: I just checked game 1, and it had an attendance of 17,422, but the Panthers' arena has a capacity of 19,250. Game 2's attendance was 18,xxx

I checked games 1&4 originally because they were the two midweek games.

Anyway, the hockey....some odd line juggling amongst the forwards by Gallant tonight. Wilson 9:28, Shaw 10:22, McKenzie 15:20. By contrast, only 2 Isles forwards played less than 20 minutes and they still had over 19.

Any explanation for why those 3 guys got so little ice time Cali?

Games 3/4 at Barclay's Center were sold out (15,795 - small rink). Brooklyn has definitely been a problem spot for the Islanders thus far, but that building was rocking for games 3 and 4. I was a little worried, especially after all the empty seats in Sunrise the first two games. But they brought the noise back in New York, I was impressed.

Game 6 should be rocking, especially with a chance to close it out at home.

2at 1 in double overtime

New York leads the series 3-2.

There is a significant drop off in talent from the top 3 lines to the 4th line. With the Islanders there is a huge drop after their first line, and then the other 3 lines are pretty even, with their 4th line being a big difference maker in the games.

Just a different makeup of talent on both teams.

I will fully admit my own disappointment with the crowd size in games 1 and 2. Not sure what people were waiting for. Maybe they just didn't realize that the playoffs had started. It's plausible.

However, last night was listed at over 20,000, which exceeds the stated capacity. Everyone showed up in full force last night, and the building was rocking. From my perspective, the crowd actually quieted down from the 3rd period to OT, and I think a lot of fans were extremely nervous that this game would slip away from the Panthers. I know I was definitely nervous. That could have something to do with it not being as raucous as everyone expects.

But whatever, Florida fans are their own breed, and it's never going to resemble markets that have a long history, or have had years and years of consecutive playoff success like L.A. and Chicago.

It looked like a lot of people went home as the game got later into OT.

Some, not "a lot". It was an 8 pm start in the first place too, so that plays a part when you're heading into the 2nd overtime and it's already midnight.

It was definitely a lot. That's not a really a "you had to be there" thing either, we could see the arena emptying out quite significantly as OT wore on.

God that rink is weird. Off the blueline faceoff, seeing a car behind the corner glass along with empty seats seems part strange, part pathetic.

Pretty bad first 10 minutes for the Panthers. They just don't seem to have an extra gear in crunch time.
