The Caps makes the Flames record in elimination games to win the series look good. I believe Calgary is 4-12 since 1990.

I remember a series against SJ in the 90s that the Flames absolutely dominated, especially game 7 but just couldn't seal the deal

Man the Caps in elimination games are like the Flames at Honda Center.
Simply cursed.
I wonder if the players are doubting themselves? Hopefully the dominating performance gives them confidence that they can put this series away.

Irbe and Wade Freaking Flaherty.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Fleury played the best hockey of his career, unfortunately someone named Trevor let the team down.

Phillys 4th line deserves a lot of credit too. Vandevelde Bellemare are their top PK unit and logged a ton of minutes. White compliments their forecheck game, and got the goal on the 2nd PP unit. Great production and roster management.
I'm surprised at play time of Philly's D. Gudas is clearly their best guy and just getting 20 minutes a game. Their bottom guys, Manning and schultz, get 16 minutes. This is the playoffs -- gotta lean on your studs. Compare that to the caps, who overwork Carlson/Niskanen for 25+ minutes and protect their bottom pairing.

^Interesting, who do the Caps overplay Niskanen/Carlson? Orlov and Alzner are perfectly capable.

You can never discount a hot goalie in the playoffs.
Philly could win this on the back of two more 35+ save games. Next game is in the philly mad house.
It's the playoffs baby, you never know.

If they win that game my money is on the Caps crumbling.
Maybe in addition to the shirts they'll make it free 'D-Size Battery' night.
What a town.
