Brutal. This offense really needs to turn it around.

....and another close loss.
The bullpen and 75% of the lineup needs to be better.
Hopefully they can start to turn it around tomorrow. Frustrating team right now.

It's the batters that are killing the Jays. Coming out of the first inning with only 2 was disappointing and after that they did virtually nothing effective at the plate.
The winning run was really just the Os getting lucky. Six hopper up the middle for a single, passed ball, and a bloop hit. And on the bloop hit Goins probably could have caught it, and even then it was bad luck how the ball bounced away that let the guy score.
It's all about the terrible hitting so far. Pitching has been much better than expected.

The Jays pen (with the exception of Osuna) hasn't been good at all, but the biggest tire fire right now is the Jays absolutely ice-cold bats, especially with runners on base.
The fact that they couldn't push more than those 2 runs across in the 1st inning AND could do nothing more after that was quite frankly embarrassing. Massive fail by the offense so far.

Interesting..
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Source: #BlueJays sign Michael Bourn to minor-league deal.
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
As @DOBrienAJC notes, #Braves pay all of Bourn’s $14M salary in ’16. except prorated portion of $507K minimum for any time in majors.
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
#Indians included cash in trade last year to cover part of ’16 salaries for Bourn, Swisher. #BlueJays lack leadoff man; sensible flier.

I thought Saunders was doing alright at leadoff. Does this have to do with his mistake on 3rd base the other night I wonder? Jays like him batting and on the bases paths after the big boys have already hit maybe?

I'm sure they will improve to somewhere in the middle - there have been some bright spots so far as you say. You just can't expect the team to collectively have the same type of offensive year they had last year again this year. It just doesn't ever work that way.

Tulo was so close to hitting that ball into the stands in the first inning last night. Seems like the Jays are just having no luck at the moment.
You have to believe this offence is going to turn it around.

So I read somewhere that the 32 of the last 35 regular season games for the Jays have been against the AL East. Yuck! Glad to see some different teams start to come to town.
All in all, for the "terrible" start to the year, the Jays are tied for second in the division, all while playing 1-2 series less at home than the rest of the division. Rack up some series wins at home and all this failure talk to start the season goes away.

Yikes!
Tim Micallef @tim_micallef
MLB has announced that Chris Colabello has received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone.
Tim Micallef @tim_micallef
Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone is an anabolic steroid

Gibbons on Cola: just found out few mins before u guys (media) today. Girodo called up. Drew Hutchison will come up for one start Sunday.
That Jesus Montero waiver pick-up might come in handy sooner than some thought.
