They should probably make the playoffs before talking about winning the cup.

I actually don’t have anything against Radulov. Very highly skilled, and has always put up big points in the NHL.

Why are they worrying about Radulov when they have swiss cheese blue line?

I wonder if the Red Wings have trouble moving Howard, if they'll consider moving Mrazek who is an RFA and due for starter money.
They certainly can't keep both, and they have Jared Coreau presumably ready for NHL back up duties, as he's 24 and has put up back to back solid AHL seasons as the starter in Grand Rapids.

Honestly, Jared Coreau, who is also an arb eligible RFA this off season, wouldn't be a bad trade target himself as far as the Flames are concerned.

24 years old, listed on the AHL website as 6'6" 220lbs and is described as an athletic goalie with size. Like I said, real solid numbers in the AHL for two seasons now as well.

We traded for Wayne Simmonds and Ben Bishop.

I wonder what the availability status of Duclair in Arizona is.
If we can get Dallas’ 1st-rounder, I wonder if that pick + would be enough to pry him out of the desert.

I'm sure Arizona would love to trade a very young, producing winger for the chance to potentially draft a prospect that could produce in a few years.

I never specified what the + could be.

I’m just spitballing, it’d likely never happen but that’s why it’s a ‘Speculation’ thread, too.

Would DAL 1st + CGY 2017 1st + Backlund + Poirier be enough to get it done?

Edit: I take the reply below this post as a ‘no’. Is there any sort of deal to be made here, or am I way off? It’d involve Bennett, would it not?

That would be horrific from CGY's POV. If that went down, I would just assume that Treliving was leaving to re-join his old team and take Maloney's vacated position.

That's the kind of package you offer if you're a) Chicago/LA and b) getting, say Stamkos with 1 year remaining on a deal. Not for Duclair. He had a 19% shooting percentage as a rookie. He's not that valuable. Your first offer is closer than this one

I we end up wiht Dallas 1st we'd be better served trying to get a starting goalie.
Trade that 1st plus florida 2nd to try and get this addressed.

Tampa might take a package like this for Bishop. If we had to add we seem to have LW/C prospect depth perhaps add Poirier or Agastino?

Calgary doesn't need another smallish skilled winger like Duclair, should be looking at guys like Nichushkin, Hayes, Kreider.

OK, I was just wondering. I feel that Nichushkin would be a more viable target anyway, just thought I’d ask.

Just out of curiosity: DAL 1st + Backlund for Nichushkin?

Totally agree. Use the pick to address an area of weakness on the Flames or just draft a player (or user the pick to obtain a better pick).

Would be sweet to do something like -
Use our 1st at 2nd Overall to draft Laine.

Trade the Panthers 2nd Rounder (+ prospect) for Kevin Hayes

Trade the Stars first rounder for Bishop or Andersen.

That would be a pretty sweet outcome on draft day.

 Gaudreau - Monahan - Hayes
 Colborne - Bennett - Laine
 Frolik - Backlund - Pribyl
 Ferland - Stajan - Bouma

Suddenly our forward group isn't that small anymore, and we have a strong goalie.

 One can dream.
