I heard rumours that he wasn't sick, and was actually injured. I think teams have done it before in the playoffs.
But I also would not put it past a team up 2-0 with ease to try and save a first round pick.

Yea, no.

Up 2-0 with ease right until they got out-worked in Game 3.

No chance they're worried about the pick when they're desperately trying to win a playoff series. That's tin-foil hat stuff.

If you watched the game today Russel was a huge help. If he's healthy enough to play, he's in, and every game matters.

The Stars played hang on as the Wild had the power play to the end of the game and it 14-2 in shots for the Wild.

You can take Nashville's 4th off there and add back Calgary's 7th. Both were conditional picks and the conditions weren't met.

They also got Minnesota's 6th for Jones.

Thanks, fixed now.

Also found a site that updates teams draft picks while I was at it.

Interesting. Russell 6th tonight in ice time for Stars defensemen. He might still be recovering from flu or injury.

Will be interesting to watch his ice time should they advance.

I saw that as well. 6th in ice time, but 2 powerplay assists and he was on the ice in the final minute defending when Minnesota had the 6 on 4. He actually made a great play to clear the puck to seal the game with about 15 seconds left.

So some indicators have him as a #6 tonight, others have him as an offensive key, others have him as Mr. Reliable in crunch time..... so all over the map and giving ammo to his detractors and supporters ..... essentially a standard Kris Russell game.

At least he will hit the 50% threshold in round 1 if the series ends before game 7, which is likely.

From WGN radio, Seguin will not play in game five.

@townbrad:
Tyler Seguin just walked out of AAC with not a heavy, but certainly noticeable limp. A band of tape wrapped around his right upper calf.

they are trying to wear him out so he can't play next round and they don't have to give up the pick!

I only tuned in midway through the 2nd. Is there a reason Goligoski's ice time is so low? Did he get hurt in the first period or something like that?

I haven't followed this series very closely, but every time I turn a game on, neither team really looks very good.
Like, Dallas hasn't looked very hungry tonight from what I've seen.
