Star Wars: Episode VIII Thread (shouldn't have to be said but, Episode VII Spoilers!)

So I was thinking that this next movie might be pretty rare.

In all of the Star Wars movies some time had passed between the last one so you had an opening crawl that kind of summerized what had happened.

So will the crawl to episode 8 be the shortest one ever

The Force is still waking up

Sooooooo its been about 2 seconds since the last movie ended and Luke who still looks like a homeless guy is still staring at Rey

Meanwhile Kylo Ren is still flying to meet with Snoke and Captain Phasma is hanging those tree odor cleaner things on her armor to get rid of the smell of the garbage shoot.

Meanwhile the Resistance is deep into a take 5 moment followed by a smoke em if you got em break. . . .

Why can't they jump forward a year? There are lots of narrative devices that would allow that.

I want them to open up with a Rocky IV style montage of Rey and Ren training. Rey's will be just like Rocky's, on some island in the wilderness training with rocks and stuff while Ren has all of the resources of the empire with Snoke increasing the speed of the shot simulator for him to block. Injecting force steroids into his arms. Meanwhile Rey is dodging around rock cliffs to eventually lose a Probe Droid who slams his robot arm against its own hood as Rey gets away.

I personally wanted to see Ren being trained by Snoke who is as tall as his hologram and forcing Ren to run around with him on his shoulders.

Then all the fan boys would go OMG Snoke is Yoda

Empire and ROTJ was only a year and it had a legit crawl. It could plausibly be at least that for the Force Awakens sequel.

I was kinda making a joke about it.

I have to admit though the one thing I liked about Clone Wars is that they did away with the scrawls and had almost like a vintage WW2 news reel reader instead.

I loved that. Really set the tone of the series and made it seem almost like a propaganda film, which is a big theme in the series.

So I think that there are things that we really want to see or have answered.



Who is Snoke?- I think that these movies are going to live or die by this reveal if there is one. It's funny, but there are so many theories going around, The Inquisitor from Rebels, Ezra Bridger, A Vader clone a Palpatine clone Plagueis. One that I was thinking about is that he is the Son from the Clone Wars



One thing is for sure in my mind, the reveal could mean the difference between this series being compared to the Prequels or the Original Trilogy.

Who is Rey - We've covered this

Are we going to see and learn more about the Knights or Ren? - I keep locking on to the name Ren, which is close to Sabines last name of Wren in Rebels, which keeps leading me to Snoke is Ezra Bridger, its a loose theory but man. anyways are the KOR force users, or thugs or body guards, are they an off shoots of the Inquisitors?

Will we see the death of another major hero in the next movie? - At some point are we going to see Luke die, is it going to be a sacrifice or a beat down to build up the villain?

Will we see less and less of Kylo without the mask - I tend to think that they intentionally wounded him in the face so that he could become more and more like Vader. Right now he's powerful and inexperienced and to me pretty untrained. But that will change, but will we see more and more of his humanity stripped away until by the end he is more machine then man twisted and evil?

What's the next super weapon? - We've seen a death star, then a bigger death star, then a super death star, what's next a death star so powerful that it can destroy planets? oh wait . . . a gffa?

Where's Lando? - I mean seriously, this movie needs more colt .45 malt liquor and funk

Hardly Billy Dee Williams was a spokes person for Colt .45 and on Lego Star Wars he bought the funk.

He even had party lights and disco balls in the falcon.

My guess on Rey's parents:

I think Rey's parents are members of the Knights of Ren and they sold her to Unkar Plutt on Jakku to protect her. I think Benicio Del Toro's character will be her father. I also think her parents and Luke have history, and that Luke doesn't know her, but knows of her.

It was interesting I rewatched FA again, and watching the scenes where Ren tortured Poe and Rey, was surprisingly similar to how the Inquisitor tortured Kanaan.

Right down to the same looks and reactions by the victims.

It not like the Empire or First order ever actually hits anything unless they're 3 feet away and the target is stationary. So the Falcon could be made out of paper for all it matters.
