Ducks are strange in that they always seem to have good goaltenders but can never settle on one and run with him.

The Ducks sure love goalie controversies. Take out their #1 goalie over 2 3 goal games and put in a disgruntled former #1 who got screwed over bad last time he played.

A bad performance by Andersen and he might be an easy target for the Flames to acquire.

1-0 Ducks. End of 1st period. McGinn with the goal, from Horcoff and Stewart.

Andersen took a Weber one-timer right to the head, appears to be fine.
And the Ducks score, Ef.

What a dominant performance by the Ducks. I think this is what everyone expected out of them.

Feel bad for Gibson, team let him down, then they play godly in front of Andersen.

Andersen does good down the stretch, gets resigned, Gibson traded to Calgary. One can dream...

Serious questions:
1) if Anderson goes on a big run, do the ducks make Gibson available?
2) if Gibson is available, is a late first this year and top-10 protected first next year too big a price to pay?

Cory Schneider return probably sets the bar. Gibson doesn't have the NHL resume that Schneider had. I personally think it would be John Gillies and an early 2nd or late 1st.
Ducks get a young blue chip goalie prospect who may turn out as good as Gibson who may not need to be protected and an early pick to offset the premium.

I think the Ducks still try to trade Andersen. They need the cap space to sign Rakell, Lindholm, Vatanen, and some potential depth players that may be lost if they don't choose to sign their UFA's. They have a good contract with Gibson after his ELC is over until 2018-19. ($2.3M)

Yes goalies will be almost free this off season.

Would you do that trade? I would. Gibson is on a very good contract and is still young. Plus he would help us immediately, whereas Gillies is likely 2 years away

That's likely the asking price for Anderson. My feeling is, and I could be wrong, Gibson ask will be a lot more.
I do agree though, the market for goalies will be lower than normal.
