Default What player would you rather add to our team?

Flames 2 biggest needs are a smart 2-way RW and a stud #1 goalie.
If you had to choice would you add a 60 point big bodied rh shot rw or a .920 save % goalie? Assuming age and contract are the same

Goalie, no contest.

But plenty of room for both. Flames will win a lottery pick and get one of the Finns, after signing Pribyl. Then will acquire a stud goalie, following that up by moving Wideman.

Done.

Goalies more important for the team, but given the criteria...

James Reimer had a 0.920+ save percentage along with 15 other goalies who played more than 30 games.

There's far fewer big, defensively responsible, right shot, right wingers putting up 60 points right now. I mean depending on how big and how good defensively you might be left with only one or two candidates with probably the prime example being Stone.

Fair point. My vote was swayed entirely by the word "stud".

Goalie.

The team can score okay, and while there is a hole on the left side, there's a much much bigger hole in front of the net

Gimme the goalie(s).

The goaltending was so bad this season it's hard to tell what the other problems are. Nothing can progress until goaltending is fixed. Starter AND back-up need to be upgraded.

You make its seem that such a thing as a .920 SV% goalie playing behind this defense and system exists.

Griess was a UFA last year signed a 2 year deal with the Islanders at 1.5M / year. .925 sv % in 41 games this year.

Might it have something to do with playing behind a top 4 defense where 3 out of the top 4 are primarily defense first Boychuck, Hamonic, De Haan ... all play more than 20 minutes game.

Is Griess a stud .920 sv % goalie on the Flames?

Is there any goalie that will have a .920 sv% playing under the Flames system?

Did Dubnyk all of the sudden learn how to play goalie when he left Edmonton?

I think its pretty safe to say that most goalies in the league would be able to put up a 0.920 SV% behind Hamilton settling into his second year here.

No need to apologize. It's going to be a long offseason.

Ricardo asked a legitimate question. There's a variance of .06 either way well researched. That's not a huge difference but that could mean a 920 goaltender on an average team could be as low as 914 on Calgary.

Hey, a .914 on the Flames and yeah baby, Playoffs! so even then argument still further re-inforces why CGY needs a stud goalie over anything else.

I wouldn't mind a high-end LW. It's not like the roster is chock-full of those either. If we add a Ladd or someone like that, are fans going to complain because he shoots the wrong way?

Ladd would be the FW equivalent of Gio on the back end. Just a blood and guts leader. Would love for that guy to play on the Flames, maybe his price tag drops a bit and he can be a bargain.
