In fairness, at this point their biggest Rivals are Columbus and Toronto, it was neck and neck for DFL.

That to me suggests Wideman will be given a shot to reclaim his roster position in camp and the early part of the season in hopes that we can "Russell" him at the end of season next year.
Well Hamilton, Gio, Brodie and Nakladal are all arguably ahead of Wideman for PP. He played himself out of the top 4 on even strength. So he's a bottom pairing power play specialist who doesn't even necessarily improve our power play?

His value may never have been lower but I don't think that means it is non-existent or negative value. We need to move him in order to spend that money on adding a top 6 winger IMO.

His salary makes much more sense on a team that can play him top 4, needs a vet d-man and needs a right shot power play QB. He doesn't fit that for us at all so it makes all sorts of sense to move him this summer.

Wideman and a pick for yakupov -- I personally do not want to help the Oilers in any way, shape or form. Wideman might not help us in our D core but he'll most definitely help the Oilers. And we have to throw in a pick? No, thanks.

Wideman+a package of picks for eberle? -- No, No, No...Eberle has skills but he is soft as marshmallow

I might do Yak if it was like a 3rd round pick or something. The cap space to pick up a free agent plus Yak would probably be worth it.

He may very well end up being a decent player but I just can't see myself ever cheering for yak after that ridiculous slide across the ice after scoring the game-TYING goal in what was it, the 8th game of his rookie season?

I think wideman is worth way more to the oilers than yak is to us

I totally agree on this, that's why we shouldn't help them out

If we continue to pair Brodie with Hamilton that leaves a spot open for Giordano's partner. He's been paired with Engelland but Wideman may make a better partner. If so Wideman gets his top 4 pairing. I'm just throwing this out there as a possibility as I'd prefer he be traded and Wotherspoon gets a spot.

Prefer Nakladal get those minutes beside Gio. Naks is better in his own end than the tire fire Wideman. Also, Nakladal doesn't try and backhand the puck out of the zone or try and make a futile 50 foot backhanded stretch pass every time he's pressured. And, I feel, Nakladal has the better shot.

Wideman is worth more to the oilers than Yak is to the Flames but at this point, Wideman's spot being open is pretty valuable.

Losing Wideman is worth more to the Flames than anything. I don't care who takes him, he just needs to go.

Yakupov would be interesting but the Oilers wouldn't trade him here. If I was BT, I would wait until Edmonton moves him and then try to get him from his new team, like SJ did with Jones. Just to say FU to the Oilers.

I think the Flames need to go out of their way to never trade with the Oilers again.

EVER.

Players would be less inclined to demand no-trade clauses, and Free Agents would be more confident coming to Calgary knowing that career-wise it is the furthest one can possibly get from Edmonton.

I had no idea we had a guy on the farm with his type of shot until he got called up. His shot is definitely the strongest part of his game in my opinion.
