Don't lie, you're surprised I was right too.
It was that idiot on the motorbike who recorded himself being a dick through downtown Calgary that I heard that comment from police, btw - that they usually go careless over dangerous because of burden of proof. Seems in this case, the Crown decided the video will meet that higher burden. Glad they are going for it too.

The case law generally describes dangerous driving as follows (R v. Hundal, [1993] 1 S.C.R. 867 (S.C.C.):
“It follows then that a trier of fact may convict if satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that, viewed objectively, the accused was, in the words of the section, driving in a manner that was ‘dangerous to the public, having regard to all the circumstances, including the nature, condition and use of such place and the amount of traffic that at the time is or might reasonably be expected to be on such place’. In making the assessment, the trier of fact should be satisfied that the conduct amounted to a marked departure from the standard of care that a reasonable person would observe in the accused’s situation.”

Interesting that they'll take a third party video as that strong of evidence. I mean, it makes total sense, but in the past they haven't really as far as I know. That's why I originally thought it'd just be a careless, since the police didn't physically witness it.
Now that the news put his name I out there I feel fine saying this now, but the Infiniti driver is a friend of a friend (Acquaintance of a friends younger brother if you want to get technical), and he's exactly the type of person that you'd think he is from that video. Just a complete dummy. I think he's around 21, but he has a lot of growing up to do.

Can I teach the portion where, if a turning lane creates it's own lane in the intersecting road, you don't need to wait for the other 2 lanes to be clear to move?

lol yup. In sales.
And of course morons on reddit are now calling for him to be fired. I really don't get this new trend that if someone does something wrong and it has nothing to do with his job, that they should then lose that job. If the employer wants too that's fine, but the public outcry really confuses me. Pin him to the wall in court, absolutely, but what's that have to do with how he makes money. Then some idiot will say "Boy, this sure looks bad on that company." How? He wasn't on company time, he wasn't using company property. Name me one company in the world that doesn't have a few complete morons working for them?

CP needs to create it's own country with laws and ethics created from the GMG thread.

Partner: "You're budging, stop it, you're cutting off this whole line!"
Me: "It's called 'zipper merging,' thank you very much."

One of these days, I need to 311 the city and suggest they put signs up on Crowchild at 50th that says exactly this: "Merge at end of lane, not beginning."

They would need those signs on every merge in Calgary.

Sorry folks.
Both lanes are the "speed limit" lane.
Left is not for "going faster". Common road courtesy is to be in the right lane if someone wants to pass or if your car is not capable of going the speed limit and then that is only until you can safely leave the roadway.
If someone wants to go over the speed limit, it's not your job to block them in the left lane. Get out of the way and let them get ahead of you.
That doesn't make the left lane anything other than the "speed limit" lane though.
