I meant it as McShane (Benjen) and Bean (Neddard).
I had envisioned him playing Victarion Greyjoy.

Problem I have with it being Benjen is there's no similarity between McShane and Bean. We've also seen an actor as Benjen who does. So unless we're going with the "Benjen is Coldhands" theory and McShane will be all done up with make-up I'm not sure.

GRRM himself stated this theory is false.

Victorian seems to be merged with Yara in the tv show based on the trailers and commentary on the trailers.

I thought it was all but confirmed he'd be Septon Meribald.

By the way that quote is old and this is the full quote

Hmmm, I would be more inclined to think, if McShane's quote can be relied upon, that he is the Elder Brother from the Quiet Isle.
Septon Meribald isn't associated with a resurrection, correct? Or near to a story of a once thought dead or disappeared character?
Elder Brother and his gravedigger = the Hound?
EDIT: Also, Elder Brother reveals to Brienne that Arya is still alive. So really, it could be either of those revelations.

Oh right ya. Different characters. I'd bet they will be combined on the show, Meribald and Elder Brother.

Don't mind me guys, I'm just bringing the Hype Boat into harbor to drop off some news about Thoros of Myr being back this season:

As for what we’ve heard about Kaye’s colorful character Thoros- last fall, we did hear from one anonymous source that Kaye had been filming. We also heard from another source that Kaye had been involved in some sort of hanging scene

Uhhhh... hanging scene? As in the end of one of the books where they are hanging those Freys with Lady Stoneheart?
Intradesting.

The very same, and it was Thoros that revived Lady Stoneheart, if I am not mistaken. I've never given up hope that the story arch will make it on to the show, especially after re-evaluating this scene:

(Wouldn't let me embed, and I couldn't find any other sources that would.)

With all of the people seemingly filming a bunch of stuff in the Riverlands plot line I think that we will see a version of StoneHeart but not a "risen" Catlyn Stark version. Perhaps there is another major female character with a bunch of hate in her heart for Freys and Lanisters.

It was Beric himself, who felt he had died & been revived too many times. He gave Catelyn the kiss of life sacrificing himself. Thoros refused to revive her because she had been dead too long.

I lurk in the TV thread, watching and seeing how things go (since I watch a season behind via blue ray).
There is a lot of bemoaning how the Season 6 premier wasn't very interesting and didn't advance any of the storylines and everything is going so slow.
My first thought? "Welcome to what book readers have been thinking since the end of book 3"...

Good point.
I had the luxury of coming to the books after all 5 had been written and published, so I was able to simply power through 2-5 last summer.
I can't imagine how frustrating it must have been for fans between a Storm of Swords and a Dance with Dragons with only a Feast for Crows to satisfy for 6 freaking years.
We only have to wait a week for episode 2...

The glacial pace of the last 16 years in the books is definitely frustrating, but that doesn't mean that a fairly ordinary season premiere can't also be frustrating.
So, Melisandre. I think we knew she was enhancing her appearance with charms in the books. I don't recall any hints about her being an ancient crone, along the lines of Maggy the Frog. I don't think Melisandre will end up being Maggy the Frog in the show...but am I forgetting about details from the book that suggest just how long Melisandre has been around?

I've only read the books once through, but it seemed to me that Doran Martell was putting a whole bunch of pieces on the chessboard while everyone else dismissed him as crippled, weak, etc. Looks to me like the show decided to go with none of that with his assassination last night. Possibly something GRRM told the producers about how his whole plot line ends up?

I actually like the set up that GRRM has established in the books more than the simple revenge, assassinate, single-dimension stuff being portrayed in the show.
Despite what the show-runners are trying to do, Doran and Dorne come off as way more dangerous and intriguing in the books.
