Flames trade 1st OA to Arizona for 2nd OA + Christian Fischer + 37th OA (6'2 210lb RH RW // 2nd rounder from 2015 // 90 points in 66 games this season with Spitfires)

Flames end up with:

Patrick Laine
Christian Fischer
35th OA
37th OA

Plus hopefully Dallas 1st rounder too.
You really want the Coyotes to have Matthews and Strome? I know they're not a Canadian rival but they're going to be probably our biggest divisional rival the next ten years. I want them to have Matthews for the feel-good story but I don't want them to be stacked.

I find it interesting that folks would want a division rival to get a top 3 pick in these scenarios (assuming the Flames get one of the other two). Best case scenario for me would be Calgary getting #1 and two Eastern conference teams getting #2 & #3

This is it for me ... totally

25% feels hopeful, but when you see daily results in the 6/7 range you start getting your head around that as being likely.

the math doesn't change, but my perception has. So if that goes down on the 30th I'm ready for it, and if they win the thing I'll be over the moon.

As a fan of sunbelt teams, I think it would be great to grow the game. If you're a Canadian relocation patriot it puts a young talent on the 2 teams most likely to go to Que?

Win/Win?
Calgary and then Arizona in the 2/3 hole is my ideal as long as the other spot isn't Edmonton or Vancouver

Then at least you get some intrigue around the Yotes wanting the top pick for marketing reasons.

That's why they'd have to pay for it, because they are divisional rivals. Thought the price I named was steep, but also realistic. (They aren't giving up Strome or OEL to move up a spot)

If they don't want to, I'd be happy to just go ahead and take Matthews.

It's Strome or bust for me. Hence why I think them moving up from 3rd is more realistic than from 2nd.

Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver all move down, while 2 other teams get to pick at the top. The Flames only move down 1, so it's not too bad.

I think this is average, which is good by Bingo's standards haha.

Ugh to your results Bingo and Ugh to mine...

1. Arizona
2. Vancouver
3. Toronto
-
7. Calgary

####.

Before this I was semi-on board with the tank. The logic made sense but I could never "get mad" about the Flames winning and I definitely didn't cheer for a loss. I am converted. If we're in this boat next season I'm fully on board with the tank. Maybe we can sign Hiller to a 2 way contract and bring him up to command the tank.

I honestly think this is it for the bottom 5 draft position seasons.

I think this past year put us there with a tough start and largely goaltending woes that will be corrected this summer.

I don't think the Flames are contenders by any stretch, but you can't waste years of good young hockey teams and face planting next season would be a waste.

Too much right with this team not to move up and at least be a bubble team.

Well I don't love EDM picking top 3 but 3rd is definitely more palatable than 1st or 2nd. And then we have our choice of Dubois or Tkachuk at #6? I'd actually consider that a big win for us as those guys are #4/5 for me right now. So overall I don't mind that result at all.

I give it a 6 due to two eastern teams winning the top two spots which is a lot better than VAN, EDM or ARI winning those two spots and the Flames having their choice of Dubois/Tkachuk. I think they'd be pretty happy to be sitting at #6 and have those two guys still left on boards, I think they'd be sprinting to the podium to grab one of them. EDM at #3 I don't really mind because I think they may trade down or trade the pick if that happens. And even if they take Puljujarvi I think he'll have the least impact initially out of the top 3 and they wouldn't have done anything to solve their defense unless they've already made a trade by that point.

Wouldn't hate that result. Mostly because of how Nylander/Chychrun go top 5 though, not necessarily because of the actual lottery results.

I guess that necessitates a question, should we be letting the actual picks you've made influence our rating of the draft? Or are we supposed to rate just the lottery and pick positions.

Start with 10 points:

Negatives:
- -5 for Calgary not winning one of the top 3 picks
- -2 for Edmonton remaining in the top 3
- -1 for Calgary dropping one spot
Total Negatives: -8
Subtotal: 2

Positives:
- +2 for Toronto falling out of top 3
- +3 for Vancouver fallling out of the top 3
- +2 for one Eastern Conference American team finishing in the top 3
- +2 for one Eastern Conference American team finishing in the top 3
Total positives: 9

Total Value: 11

I guess this result broke my arbitrary lottery rules value table (again), and went past 10 to 11. I can't say overall this would make me extremely happy (as one might expect with an 11 out of 10 ranking), but all in all it is a pretty good result by looking at all the individual attributes.

FYI - 10/10 for me would have to be Calgary 1st, Carolina 2nd and Colombus 3rd. Carolina and Colombus are two 'underdog' teams from the East that Calgary wouldn't have to worry about, who haven't had any NHL-unfair favors (hello New Jersey and the Kovalchuk fiasco), and who could probably use a high pick to drum up fan support, and both teams seem to be rebuilding in a positive manner (unlike Edmonton and arguably Buffalo).

I like how the simulator will sometimes skip the second overall pick altogether.

First try today:

1. Calgary
2. Toronto
3. Colorado

Gotta call that a 10/10.

I log into to CP everyday just to see the daily results for the lottery, leaving disappointed yet again. Can we finish top 3 one of these days?! Well here is hoping for tomorrow.

A 2 vote. No Finns or a Matthews and the Tkachuk/Dubois love is not my flavor.
