Dodge Caravan drivers in my recent experience, from distracted mom blowing through a stop sign to "neck tattoo" blindly changing lanes while talking on his cell phone and road raging when he gets honked at...driving like a maniac with kids in the van. I really should be pulling these videos off my dash cam, but alas, I'm too lazy.

Infiniti and Acura are the two best brands masquerading in the luxury market. While BMW and Mercedes try to masquerade in the approachable mid-range sub-range market.
Most Infinity owners are the ones who wouldn't pop for the German engineering but also LOVED the tech whizzy pops in the Infinity. I think their new made in Japan QX50 is pretty good, but man, what a legacy of crap they have left behind.
This guy is brutal and needs to have his license reprimanded for a while.

Heard from people that know the guy, he was charged with careless driving (6 demerits) and an unsafe lane change (2 demerits)
Not sure about dollar values

Are you allowed to be given a ticket based on footage from someone's dash cam?
Why don't we just fit all vehicles with a camera and there will be no need for any police on the highways.

Infinity guy puts the lives of 7 other people in danger (Blue BMW, white car infront, white BMW, guy recording the video, the other blue BMW, black truck, semi) plus himself in a span of seconds yet people are squabbling about hogging the left lane and over generalizing BMW drivers.
If he hit one of the cars he splitted or one of the two trucks he shouldered, it could have been game over for a few people

There are people dying of starvation in Africa and people are squabbling about a car splitting lanes.

The police will issue tickets based off dashcam footage.
None of the ones I know about have been tossed either.

This. The law isn't 'any vehicle in the left lane must move into the right lane whenever a car is closing the gap from behind.' It's slower vehicles - those doing under the speed limit - keep right.
It's funny that nobody has mentioned speed yet. Do people really think that if a driver in the left lane is doing 10k over the speed limit he is legally obliged to move over to let a car doing 15k over the speed limit pass? That police would really ticket a driver who wouldn't yield the left lane to the egregious speeder?
And some roads are simply too congested for the left lane to be devoted to passing only.
Sometimes it's gonna take 2 minutes longer to do that 2 hr drive. Best just to take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.

Edit, I was wrong, and spiteful.
"keep right, except to pass". If you aren't passing, get out of that lane.
"Slower traffic, keep right" have to be at or near speed limit or passing to be in the left lane. But common sense if everyone is going 120 and you are going 110, move over!
There's also rules about motorcades, which these people were part of. Unless you are in a funeral procession, you can't impede traffic when in a motorcade. They would have been wiser and safer to be all single file, even still, I doubt they were "technically" impeding traffic.

No it isn't, on that road it's slower traffic keep right. BUT, he's still wrong, because yes even if you're doing 10k over and there's someone coming up behind you going faster, you still need to move over. That road is too congested to be a passing only lane, but it's still everyone's responsibility to try and keep flow going
Not sure why people struggle with this. If you're so upset and offended that someone is going faster than you, why would you then want that person to stay behind you? Let them by so they can take off and get away from you.

I'll let impatient speeders pass, as a courtesy. But the notion they have the authority of law behind them is comical. Traffic flow regulations don't trump speed limits.

And that is great that you do that. I'd argue that blocking the left lane at 110 is much more unsafe than driving 120 in a 110 zone. And I've never been pulled over for that amount over on a highway but wow, try being a left lane blocker at the posted speeds all the time. Marbles out their window once people pass you...

I know someone who was ticketed (as registered owner) for making an unsafe lane change in Fort Saskatchewan based only on a report of a person who called in. Problem is, both he and his car were in Calgary at the time, with numerous people able to back him up on it. The attitude of the RCMP detachment in Fort Sask was "we don't care, fight it in court".

Side note on the QE2. It's an embarrassment that this highway between our two largest cities, and one of the busiest economic corridors, is only 2 lanes each way. It should have been tripled years ago. Like most, I dread heading north of the city.

I fought a ticket like that about twenty five years ago when you could mail in a written defense and won.

Sure you can get a ticket based on camera footage. I think video evidence is more reliable than an eye-witness account. Here is my story.
Many years ago I was passed on the shoulder by a car going a high rate of speed. I recorded the license-plate number and immediately went to the nearby RCMP station to register a complaint. The officer asked if I'd be willing to go to court if necessary. I was and it was necessary. In court the guy was convicted based on my evidence.

I'd say one doesn't trump the other, they need to be balanced. No, the guy doing 40% over the speed limit doesn't need to be specifically catered too with everyone getting out of his way. And also no, the guy glued to the speed limit isn't so important that he can just stay in the left lane and never have to move to assist with the safe flow of traffic. Everyone needs a bit more respect and courtesy on the roads

Hell, even if the guy is doing 170 in a 90 zone, I'll still move over. I'm not worried about flow of traffic at that point, I just want to let that guy by so I don't have to be near that mess, and I don't want to make him pass dangerously on the right or start weaving, making a bad situation worse.
