I don't think he'll make the team out of camp. But I'm guessing he'll see some action with the Flames next year. How much will depend on his performance.
I think the Flames want to see what he can do in the AHL before giving him a shot in the NHL. Unless he absolutely blows the coaching staff away in camp I think he starts the year in Sotckton.

5/10 chance.
Showing flashes in the A that he might be better than expected but we'll see how he does in camp.

I think Jankowski is being seriously underrated. I think he will surprise at camp, start the season on the 3rd line on the wing with Backlund to learn the system with a 2 way center and eventually be paired with Bennett on the 2nd line.

Slightly better odds than Hiller making the team.

Very unlikely that he makes it out of camp (I voted 1). But I could definitely see some call-up time after the deadline.
If he has a solid year and continues to progress (as well as getting stronger), then I think he's have a very good shot next year.

I'd guess 1 to 3 rookies make the team out of training camp. Players with a decent chance would include our 1st round pick, Shinkaruk, Hathaway, Grant, Jankowski, Wotherspoon, and Kulak. Maybe Agostino and Poirier as well. I'd guess players such as Wotherspoon, Hathaway, Agostino and Grant could be 13 or 14 forwards or a 7th defencemen. The others need regular playing time, so it will be harder for them to stick.
Also it depends on our needs and I don't see Jankowski filling a need at this time. I gave him an optimistic 4 as he's had a good start in the AHL but really his start doesn't mean a whole lot other than he's passing his first test.

Underrated long term or short term? I think he could end up our #2 centre long term in some circumstances but I think the best thing for him and the Flames is to learn playing centre in pro playing huge minutes in the AHL in the short term. It isn't underrating him IMO to think he's still a skinny kid with limited pro experience who could use growing and dominating at a lower level with some of our other prospects.
As for winger vs centre it seems to me he's even more of a natural centre than Bennett is. Seems playmaking is one of his strengths and I don't think he's as hard in board puck battles as Bennett is. Faceoffs has grown into one of his strengths in college and the Flames could dearly use a big, skilled centre who can win face-offs.
If Jankowski pans out I think he may centre Bennett one day, not the other way around. I really think Jankowski projects more as a centre than a winger. I'm not sure where he fits long term because of that but having an extra 6'4 top two line centre isn't going to be a problem.

I voted "How likely do you think Janko will make the Flames?" as the poll title says, not the "this year" qualifier in the thread title.
Makes a pretty huge difference.

Just looking at the number of bodies, I can't see it happening. Not unless Stajan is pushed to wing, Bollig is scratched, and Raymond is dumped.

He needs a big summer but with a strong rookie camp, prospect tourney, and training camp he could potentially get a quick look with the big team. Most likely he gets sent down and if he has a really good year I could see him being high on the call up list.
I think one of Jankowski, Porier, Shinkaruk, Klimchuk make the team next year and another one is the first call up

5 - NHL full timer after trade deadline
8 - Sees some NHL action during season

I give Jankowski a 50% chance of making the team. He either will or he won't.

This will be the first summer where Flames trainers can really get Jankowski on a bulking up program and spend some time with him. Have to consider him coming up in training camp at a potential 6'3 and 210-215 lbs which is very doable as he's already at 205 from his initial 175 lbs when drafted. With that size, he's able to fit in to the roster without being a total pushover. He has good speed and playmaking, which are two of the factors which will help him. He's bulked up quite a bit and has actually gained speed.
At his current size, no he might not make the team come training camp, but a strong camp and some extra size will get him a spot.

I think he has a 6/10 chance to make it, but it's a 4th line role. He's not going to oust Monahan, Bennett, or Backlund. He will probably be better offensively than Stajan but Stajan is a veteran who can do a lot of small things Jankowski hasn't learned yet. I think if one of the top 3 C's gets injured, Janko is called up.

4/10 from me. I think he'll have a good opportunity, but I don't think his chances are too high yet.

It's too bad Stockton doesn't play many games, because I would want Jankowski to get used to a full professional season and play lots of games.
I still think they should take it slow and steady on him, so I voted 3.

One out of ten. This is on making it out of camp. He will see NHL time next season, but won't make the team out of camp.
