Yes they do... police are able to do work anywhere in the province. However it is unlikely they will ever specifically investigate outside of Calgary unless the incident to originated in Calgary.

Seems to me that if they really wanted to, the Crown could push for a dangerous driving charge. And that would be a Criminal Code offence, rather than traffic act.

In my experience I have only seem Dangerous Driving under the Criminal Code by used when a death has occurred.

Yeah that punishment doesn't really fit this crime. Nobody was hurt, wasn't actually witnessed by police, I doubt they even give a 6 demerit careless driving ticket.

Love that people are suggesting the BMW club wasn't being a collective ######. You know damn well they were trying to drive in their little pattern and feel superior. I enjoy nice German cars as much as anyone, but those clubs attract a certain type of person/driver.

Sure, nobody was hurt this time, but if either car was clipped there during the pass, its possible there could be multiple deaths. Punishment for this should not be based on result (no one was hurt), but on the action (could have caused a accident at highway speed). Unfortunately, that will likely not be a case as justice tend to be more "eye for an eye".

That was my first thought too, but I found a longer clip that doesn't really show anything on the groups part. I thought maybe those two that got passed were cruising side by side for an extended period of time but looks like it's not the case.

Guess they're only guilty of driving BMW's (Which should still be worth a fine, imo)

Sure but that's not the way traffic laws work, they're not like criminal investigations where the potential result is taken into account. Running a red light has the potential to kill an entire family, but it's just 3 demerits, a $280 fine, and you'd have to do it 5 times within 2 years to be suspended. I don't see this as being any worse than that really

There are definitely moments in that clip where they should be driving single file.

The beemers were being dicks, the other car was an idiot, that said I have no doubt he was stuck behind six or seven of the idiots for miles doing their little side by side club run.
It's not just the two up front that were holding things up.

Have you ever driven that highway? How is this not absolutely normal?

The person should be charged with dangerous driving or something like that.

But lol, just lol at BMW drivers, who are know for being huge tools, blocking the highway, some things in life just don't shock you at all

Especially on a busy Sunday afternoon.

There's probably some truth to what afc wimbledon is saying, but it's not shown in the video. I even thought the same thing when I saw the short clip but the longer one showed I was wrong. It's why I stopped going to most car meets though, too many of them are kids in their teens showing off, and I was always in the minority when it came to calling people out on their stupid crap. Only good one these days is the Grey Eagle Wednesdays imo

You know that the Infinity driver was part of the "club run" right?

Drivers in Calgary have been fined for doing that and impeding traffic, even when they weren't speeding.
There should never be a train of cars in the left lane. People need to make their pass quickly, and then move back over to the right lane. I wish everyone could drive the autobahn just once, to see how it's done.

The Infiniti driver though, that's another level of dumbassery. He was just stunting. I cannot understand how he wasn't immediately charged.

From the longer clip it looks to me like it may have just been a busy afternoon on the highway. Without quite a bit more info, a view of what is behind them and in front, more than what we see in the video it is really hard to blame anyone but the Infinity driver.

lol haven't you heard? It doesn't matter how busy it is, some people need to be let through because they are in a hurry. I frequently lay on the horn at 430pm on deerfoot all the way from memorial until I hit 64th ave because I'm in the left lane dammit and it is a passing lane!!!
