Lots of guys declining the WC. Is Backlund the only one confirmed to be going so far?

For sure, for a guy that's been labelled as tough as glass, that's great to see
How about Johnny and team USA, any word on that?

Hiller should just retire after that performance he displayed this season. Made me not want to watch Flames hockey when he was called to the crease

Didn't hear much about Wideman. Hiller for sure.
I dunno, he's generallly floated around .5 pts/game for his career, which is pretty good for a dman. And then with 56 pts last season, you'd think there would be at least a couple people interested. Especially if you keep some salary.
I'm sure BT looked at moving him, but maybe not as aggressively as he could have been.

I recall there being some tweets about Treliving aggressively looking to trade him.
Think people were worried about the two years of term.

Chances are without a contract (and expecting a big pay day) he won't be going and risk injury. He could pay for insurance himself but I don't see him taking that risk with the potential long term big money numbers being floated around.

I think Friedman early in the year wrote they agresively tried but the term and cost was a bit much for takers.

Not to mention he is playing at the World Cup. That's a lot of hockey.

Johnny Gaudreau is going back to school. #Flames star heading back to @BostonCollege to take some classes as he works towards his degree.
Eric Francis @EricFrancis2m2 minutes ago
Gaudreau still undecided on if he'll accept world's invite
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg5m5 minutes ago
Gaudreau said it might not be a good idea to go Worlds without a contract, but also says he’d really like to play. Hence undecided. #Flames

Interesting.
My thinking is Gaudreau at about $7.5 million per (Tarasenko comparable), and Mony at about $6 million per (Barkov comparable).
Let's split the difference shall we?
Both can sign 8 year $6.750 million per year deals.
Then it can be the Gio/Johnny/Mony Flames cap max.
