He seems pretty shy and not very vocal and he's pretty green so from that stand point I don't know if it's a great move but at the same time the kid has insane skill and could be leading the league within a season or two. I suppose it depends what kind of captain your team needs but to me a veteran would probably seem more appropriate for the Oilers.

I don't think this is a problem. For one, they don't have any other candidates. And two, he is used to pressure and the spotlight, and seems to be somewhat of a leader simply by default.
Of all the horrible decisions that franchise makes, this doesn't even make the list IMO.

He seems to hate losing so that already puts him to the front of the line of candidates as you can't give the "C" to any of the career loser core and expect any sort of resolve or culture change.

Actually, can Edmonton apply to legally change their city name to St. McDavid??

Maybe every player. League-wide.
Have they commissioned the McDavid statue outside of McDavid Place yet? Bronze just wont do, it should be made of Gold. And he should be wearing sweatpants.
