That's why you look at the temperature before you leave. Knee warmers, hat and warm gloves this morning. I'll be wearing none of that on the ride home.

  • rf sixC carbon handlebar - 35 mm (made a bit of a mistake with this purchase as I got a flat bar and not a riser)
  • rf lockon grips in blue
  • RF Atlas stem (something short ~ 10 mm or so)
  • Shimano SLX brakes, with ice tech discs and finned pads
  • RF Atlas pedals
  • RF respond cranks
  • giant contact dropper post - 100 mm
  • bontranger affinity saddle
  • shimano xt rims and hubs
  • tires are nobby nics - tubeless
  • rf turbine front chainring - 2x set up 36t and 24 (I think)
  • shimano xt rear cassette - with a wolftooth 42t gear
  • shimno xt chain
  • sram x9 long cage rear duerailler - replaced the pully wheels with cool KNC blue ones with blue bolts
  • let's see if the picture shows up now:

Your pic ain't working. Want to see.
I have easily put about $2,000 into a bike that was $2,800 - bad economics I know.....but that being said, this bike took me to some cool spots around bend, or, ripped up some sweet single track in whitefish, some rail trails in Kelowna and lake louise...it takes me places nothing else can take me to.

I keep telling myself it is less harmless than an addiction to some kind of drug - but ti is likely not......

It was definitely poor planning on my part. I accidentally brought my laptop home last night so I had to lug that with me too. Bag space was at a premium.

I was wearing shorts in March cycling to work. Only thing that gets cold are the toes. And need gloves for sure, made that mistake once.

I've been burnt by that before for sure. Now I live on the weather websites, even when I'm not riding. And it's Calgary, so you should almost always have a provision for crappy, unexpected weather, especially on the ride home. Never know what will be waiting for you.

I always figure that I don't care as much about the weather going home because I can always soak in a warm bathtub when I get there and I figure the odds of it being colder in the afternoon than in the morning are somewhat low.

Just curious, how much do you guys stretch before and after riding? Is there certain stretches you do? I usually stretch for about 10 minutes before and after

I don't stretch before, but when I get to the top of my first big climb I'll stretch a few minutes. If I haven't had to many beers once I get home, I'll do 20 min.

Who here ride to work downtown from the far North? Eg. Sage Hill area. I want to eventually work myself to do that kind of ride. Don't know if I like the idea of getting up really early, get to work sweating and have to shower and pack work clothes. The upside would be getting good workouts, save $ on gas, parking, bus fare etc.

I commute from Country Hills to Currie Barracks. Approx 28 km one way taking the long route using the Nose Creek pathway. It's only about 19km one way if I use Centre/4th/Northmount/10th/Bow River pathway. It's about the same time, though, because of traffic lights. The ride home is a good challenge right up 10th St and then that vicious little ramp that leads up to Queens park Cemetery.

A guy I work with bikes in occasionally from Evanston, but the round trip is a bit too much he says. He says he will bus/bike one day, then bike/bus the next day, etc.

No stretching before. I just spin for 10-15 minutes to get loosened up. I'll stand on my pedals every so often to stretch out my calves and give my arse a break.

I don't stretch much after the activity, unless I had to ride into the wind and my legs are beat.

Rode jumping pound ridge yesterday, and considering it is mid-April, being able to ride in shorts is stunning; however, I wonder if we are headed for a real dry summer this year.

Anyways, for the most part the trail was dry, however, there were enough wet spots, ice spots and trees down to prevent us from feeling like we got in any real flow. The uphill struggle seemed long and steep and my quads were crying.....

On the way home, my buddy and I stopped at Calgary cycle as they were having a sidewalk sale. For $225 I picked up a new poc backpack, poc trabec helmet and a pair of bontranger fat biking gloves - not really stuff I needed but the price was great.

I picked up a new bike today so I'm selling the bike from the first post to remove some of the guilt.

Whitefish trail in immaculate shape. Almost 25 miles one way. Now I'm now drinking a double ipa on the deck. Life is good.
