Draft position be damned, that's a good way to end an otherwise disappointing season. The boys go out with their heads held high and know they have a ton of work to get ready for training camp.
The hockey gods will reward us at the draft. Either Matthews with a lottery win, or the player we end up picking will become a star. Of that I am certain.
I truly believe this season was for the best. Last season had so much good luck involved. A season like this is a bit of a reality check that management has a lot of work left to do. And so do the players. Nothing comes easy in the NHL.
So heads up everyone. Good things are ahead

That's part of the reason I am upset Bollig scored. I want someone else in his place next season.

This season can die in a fire. Unless Matthews comes of it of course..

That goal didn't sway things either way IMO. BT is pragmatic. Bollig is traded, or the 13th/14th forward for a year. After that, my guess is Kevin Westgath-like obscurity.

To the tank crowd (infraction or not):
Seriously, what a bummer this PGT thread is with all the 'disappointment' of our draft position. There is literally nothing any of us can do about it. So why bum everyone out? You think Hartley and the boys are saddened by this win, or that they walk out of this season with their heads up??
Calling a Flames win 'disgusting' is literally one of the stupidest things I've ever read on CP.

It looks like the whole Sieloff family made the trek to St Paul to see his first NHL goal...
... and at the rate he scores, it could be the last one he scores for a long time.

I never hope for losses, but this was a game that the Flames deserved to lose and it would have made the Flames better in the long run. It could be the difference between drafting a player that's ready next season, or a player that isn't ready for another two or three years.
This truly was a meaningless win for everyone except Backstrom and Sieloff.

I'm actually quite happy for Backstrom that he gets to end his career on a high. Good to see.

Not really, it sets the bar for Shinkaruk, Elson, Kylington, Seiloff and whoever else had a cup of coffee with the big club. Accountability and culture tone are really important things.

There's always hope that our pick ends up being of the top 3 best players to come out of that draft
Maybe we trade up as well.

I'll admit that I was hoping for a loss so we could get 4th, but I'm really happy for Sieloff after his lost season with a staph infection. That's one guy I've always been pulling for, hoping he can carve out a career as a depth defenceman.

Insane to think 5 more wins this season and we are in the playoffs.

Dallas should have Minny in the bag. Calgary beat them without even trying. If we were trying less, I would have put Hiller in net

LOL, finally watched the highlights. Those were two of the ugliest goals I think I've seen a Flames player score all year. Just funny that they decided a relatively meaningless game and possibly changed our draft position.
The hockey gods have an incredible sense of humor.
