I believe in the Pony Power

Would prefer they don't play in the World Cup of Hockey and rest for the season anyways. I don't give a crud about that tournament, particularly since it is no longer best on best for each country.

Trending down with a career high in goals.

I am guessing you watched the highlights in 2014 when Gaudreau was showing he belonged in the NHL. I know I did.

Good. This thing is a mark of shame for those who attend IMO. It's like a giant participant ribbon for players that couldn't get to the playoffs, and is absolutely meaningless since most of the best available players from any country, is still playing for hockey's only real prize.
It's no coincidence when an era in your teams history, considers its heart and soul and 'best' player Ryan Smyth, that that same player holds the record for attending this lame tournament.
Also, any time a Skoda or Lada is next to the glass, you know your playing in a POS event.

I hope Brodie plays. I think it will only benefit him in the long run with a little bit of international experience.

It's a player decision thing and I'm 100% fine with a player opting to go or not. All I care about is them playing on the Flames and if Brodie not going is going to influence Team Canada braintrust then so be it as I'm sure if it mattered that much to Brodie he would go but he's got personal reasons not to and that's good enough for me. I don't even care about the Olympics all that much as the best players all don't make the team so it is what it is and at the end of the day all I care about is their play on the Flames.

Bologna. Believe it or not, there is a passion for hockey outside of Canada. I know Canadians like to think hockey revolves around us and us only, but it doesn't. We're not the only country that obsesses with it. Those European nations love this tournament and couldn't care less about the Stanley Cup and this is their go-to tournament. It might not be best on best, but tell that to the sell-out crowds and full arenas this time of year over there. And while I agree having a Skoda next to the glass looks dumb, it's no dumber then SN posting a giant digital flickering pizza 73 logo on the glass every game.
I personally enjoy watching it. Canada isn't a lock to win it and it's a good chance to see a more european style of hockey with different players on the bigger rink. The NHL is a watered down product these days and I enjoy something a little bit different every now and then.

At absolutely no time, in the entire history of everything, has anything ever been "narrowed-minded."

All I remember is that Joe Nieuwendyk went one year when he was with the Flames way back when, the tournament was held in some European country, I couldn't recall where. What happened was the ice was so back that he hit a rut on the ice and hurt his knee. He was out for a significant time the next season. So, if Gio and Brodie not going, I'm glad.

Huh, the World Cup is definitely best on best. The World Championship is more of a B tournament. Myself I'll watch both tournaments.
I think it divides the real hockey fans from the pretenders. Kind of like when somebody makes up rules on who is a real car guy or not. This last one aimed at Pylon and his ilk more than you.

I think he meant the world cup isn't best on best because of the U23 team. For example Gaudreau is easily one of the best U.S. players but will have to play on the U23 team. Yes, the best players are St the tournament, but not necessarily representing their own country
