Well, that rules the Leafs out as well, if he's worried about pressure and scrutiny. Why do I think that won't be the case though?

I honestly don't know enough about him to know if he is a player the flames should target. Anyone know the kind of player he projects to be in NHL?

I have read he is comparable to a less physical (but has more hockey iq) Chris Kreider. Lots of speed.

Preds still hoping he will reconsider

Nashville Predators @PredsNHL
Congrats to Jimmy Vesey, recipient of this year's Hobey Baker Award. Second draft pick in #Preds history to win the award.

As they should.

Taking the high road, combined with his dad discussing possible suitors, only makes this whole thing seem even shadier for Veseys camp.

Would still take him on the Flames for free though.

Has Vesey said he won't sign in Nashville? From all I've read it says he's going to test UFA, which doesn't necessarily mean Nashville is out on him. Unless I've missed something.

Well its pretty rare you see a guy want to test the UFA market and then end up signing with the team they wouldn't sign with before the UFA period. I can't think of any cases of that happening off the top of my head. So I think people are making a good assumption that he has no interest in signing with NSH.

I mean if he didn't mind signing in NSH why not sign now and go play in the NHL playoffs? The kid could be playing in the NHL right now. Him not wanting to play in the NHL immediately is a pretty big sign he just doesn't want to sign with NSH.

He probably will go to a solid organization that has an opening for him on the top 3 lines. As a completely biased fan I think the Flames would be a great choice. He could probably make a case to play 2nd line minutes next year with Bennett as the centre. Further he could make a case to play top line if he or Gaudreau would shift to RW.

If the Flames win a top 3 lottery and have Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Matthews/Laine/Puljujarvi then Vesey would have even more incentive to sign in Calgary. That top 6 would be a force for 10 more years.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Laine
Vesey - Bennett - Ferland
Colborne - Backlund - Frolik

There's been a rumor that he's going to Boston for sure.

This will all look like a big waste of time in a year or two when they learn he's nothing special.

He would be our best prospect by far if we had him. Outside of whoever we draft in the top 9 anyway.

Button has him as the 8th best prospect outside the NHL. Guess we'll see who's right. NSH sure was willing to hand him a top 6 role too and I've heard other GM's think he's NHL ready.

Vesey will be the 3rd or 4th most high-profile rookie on the Leafs. He won't have much pressure.

Maybe he wants the pressure, and good on him if he does. I hope he thrives.

Yeah, he's already told the Predators he's not going to sign with them. Kind of sad.

Preds showing that they dont have a problem with the player - it is the agents.

I think there are 3 teams in the mix to sign him. Boston, Toronto, and the Rangers.

If the Flames get a pitch they should send Johnny and advise they need a winger to play with him and Monahan. Getting to play with the top under 23 duo in the league could be enticing

It will be interesting if the draft influences where he might end up. Join Matthews to form a great young core? If the Flames end up with a D-man, there is a wide open spot on the wing (albeit right wing) on the top 2 lines. That should be enticing, but Nashville promised basically the same thing. Hard to know what he is looking for, other than the obvious Boston/Toronto connections.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
