How many did Crosby have at 21?

You mean in the highest-scoring season of the last 20 years?

We're not comparing two players at the same age here.

I think Monahan is close to, if not at the level of, Sid Crosby.

Facepalm. No, Monahan is not at the level of one of the best players in the game.

Monahan is awesome and we are very lucky to have him, but to say he is on Crosby's level is a good way to embarrass Flames fans

Eh, just my thoughts, I guess.

IMO, Monahan is playing at a very high level ATM. I wouldn't be surprised if he outscores Crosby next year.

No need to derail the thread on this, though.

SC: 85 pts in 80 games, as season that started off horribly.

SM: 63 pt in 80 games.

As much as i hope you are correct, I suspect you are wrong in your about next year.

Yeah that's fine, I would just like to point out that despite Crosby's awfully slow start, he still has 22 more points than Monahan this year.

You've already done it. You can't say something completely outlandish and not expect people to react.

At least I've been talking about how much I love Sean Monahan which happens to be in the very title of this thread

Monahan is a top-10 centre in this league, and he isn't tenth. It's not the popular opinion, but it's mine.

Bash it all you want. I never intended to make this into such an issue, because it really shouldn't be one.

I love Sean Monahan, and I'm not worried at all about his future.

I would say that center tiers go something like:

Tier I
Crosby

Tier II
Malkin / Kopitar / Bergeron / Giroux / Thornton / Toews / Getzlaf / Kuznetsov

Tier III
Seguin / Barkov / Tavares / McDavid / Kesler / Spezza / Krejci / Datsyuk / Backstrom

Tier IV
Couture / ModernDayStamkos / Carter / Scheifele / Monahan / Johansen

As for point totals, I'd be weary of them. The Flames are a very dangerous offense and no doubt Monahan has some contribution to that but I'd wager our blue line and high-risk high-reward offensive system has the most contribution to that.

OK, using that tier system, Crosby is most definitely higher

However, why is Kuznetsov way higher than Monahan? Why is Barkov ahead of Monahan?

Monahan should be in tier 2/3 with Stamkos, IMO.

Back-to-back seasons of 60+ points and his 22nd birthday is still half a years away.

Pretty good, pretty, pretty pretty good.
This this 1000x this.
