Does a 6–9 draft pick derail the current rebuild, or set it into serious jeopardy? No chance, which is why I don't believe it is worthwhile bemoaning the very likely possibility that this is precisely what will happen.

Not bemoaning the possibility just think it helps the Flames more if we happen to lose this game. Winning a meaningless game near the end of the season gives me less satisfaction than us drafting higher. I know that's a minority view.

How important is it to finish top 3, top 5? No way to know exactly. But I'd rather draft top 3-5, I'd rather accelerate the rebuild.

I feel like there are no possible points that I could make here without them being contradicted by some paper-thin rebuttal, so I won't bother.

However, that aside, you're being horrifically antagonistic and insufferably condescending in your arguments. Even in denial of this, you're being antagonistic. I read every word of the conversation.
